Review: As you know, I'm of Norwegian descent, so I was really interested to read this book with Miss Grace! This series is wonderful for enriching your child's education on other countries and cultures, and perfect for home schoolers as well! Having read Global Mom (by Melissa Dalton-Bradford), I was able to add some other notes on the topics at hand (like kids in 'skole' getting to play outside in snowsuits for hours a day!, while reading the book with Miss Grace, which really helped to round out what she was learning!.
norway flag

The author kindly sent along a mini-Norway flag, which I unfurled for her when we got the section about Noway Constitution Day! It was great having had her gorgeous bunad from her Aunt, that she could point to in the story, and say "I have one of those!"
The illustrations are bright and charming, and the text is simple, though my only wish was that a phoentic spelling be given in parenthesis behind the Norwegian words, as they appear in the book, versus a pronunciation chart at the END of the book- which means you have to turn back and forth while reading to your child (if you don't know how to say the words! I was ok, as I knew the words, but other parents could be aggravated with the way it as, as could early readers! Otherwise, we give this book our highest recommendation!
The previous books in the series feature France, Mexico, South Korea, and coming soon, Turkey!
We would highly recommend the entire series for home schoolers, and teachers wanting to branch out from Common Core and teach their students about life in other countries!
