The Exergen Smart Glow Temporal Scanner Thermometer  is an infrared thermometer which captures temperature by scanning the heat which is emitted from the forehead, via the temporal artery. We had out previous Exergen Scanner for over 2 years, with no issues with it. But we were in need of another one, as in the middle of the night, nobody wants to trek up and down stair to locate the thermometer, do they?

This updated version of the original TemporalScanner includes four innovative ways to make it even easier to take a temperature:

1. A softly illuminated display for easy reading in any light -- perfect for checking the temperature of a sleeping infant in a darkened room
2. Beeping sound indicating scanning can be turned off or on to avoid waking a sleeping child
3. Automatically retains the last eight temperature readings for instant recall to check on fever progression

4. Ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius modes

How well does it light up?

Exergen Smart Glow Temporal Thermometer 2

Pretty well as you can see!

How great is that? You don't have to turn on the light to check the fever of a sick child, and take the chance of waking them up! And being able to turn OFF the beep is a great thing, although I personally haven't had that wake up my child!

With our weather ricocheting between 80 degrees/80% humidity one day and 35 degrees with a wind chill factor also the next (or even on the same day!), coughing, sneezing and wheezing, has become a background music in our household! Having such an EASY way of taking a temperature is not only time efficient, but accurate, allowing for better treatment of the cold/flu/sinus symptoms! Even Miss Grace has learned how to take her own temperature with it! It is so easy to use!

I love being able to keep the last few temps on the thermometer, that way I don't have tp try to remember what the previous temps were, which can be pretty important if your child is really sick!

Sold in major retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Costco, Babies “R” Us, Toys “R” Us, Kroger and BJ’s, the Smart Glow thermometer’s suggested retail price is $49.99. The best part is it is ready to when you buy it- it even comes with the battery which takes all of 5 seconds to install! You HAVE to love that fact alone!

Trust me when I say it is the gift that KEEPS on giving, and we highly recommend it for all new mother's, or as part of a family gift basket!

You can check out thermometer use videos from real moms like YOU on the Exergen site!
