Since we're talking about severe weather and Fall/Winter storms today,
I have an excellent children's book to help kids with storm prep too!

Freddy the Frogcaster and the Big Blizzard cover

Synopsis:
There's a blizzard blowing toward Lilypad and someone has to warn the frogs! Frog News Network meteorologist Sally Croaker is busy in the newsroom and Polly Woggins is preparing for live broadcasts in the snow. It's up to Freddy the Frogcaster to spread the news and get everyone prepared for the snow storm!

The second book in the popular Freddy the Frogcaster series from Janice Dean "The Weather Machine," Freddy the Frogcaster and the Big Blizzard will entertain the whole family with a fanciful blend of weather facts and froggy fiction.

Review:

We had not read the first book, as I had not heard about it! Miss Grace ADORES all things weather related (really anything science related), so I figured she would be enthralled with this book, and she was! Having been through Hurricane Prep, she understands preparing for those types of storms, so she was fascinated to see how different Freddy's preparations were, and to compare them. This lead to a lot of discussion, which is ALWAYS a goof thing!

We definitely do not have big winter snow storms down here in the deep South, but we do get some snow and sleet, so I knew she would be interested in the weather section, and she was!  Freddy introduces children to the science behind blizzards and chilly weather patterns, in simple easy terms, and she really learned a lot about bad weather!
This is a great book to have on hand BEFORE bad storms strike, to help your child get over any anxiety about making a storm prep bag/container, and what will happen if the power goes out and you are snow bound for a few days. We highly recommend it!
