Thanksgiving is here and I pray that each of you when you gather this Thursday with family and friends, are truly thankful to have them in your lives, and that you take time together to pause and share what you are truly grateful for.
It is important to remember as the holiday season starts that we are truly in one of the most prosperous nations in the world, and that we are blessed to celebrate so many holidays during the year in such grand style.
So in the midst of the retail frenzy following Thanksgiving (which has started SO much earlier than ever before, as retailers see the effects of consumers not spending as much leading into the holiday season) Giving Tuesday provides an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, here AT HOME, and abroad, by focusing on charitable giving.
Next Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, which is the 4th annual #GivingTuesday , World Visionis partnering with Thirty-One Gifts to help charitable donations make twice the impact.
On #GivingTuesday, every donation made by phone (1-888-511-6588) or online (Worldvisiongifts.org) to World Vision will be MATCHED by Thirty-One Gifts (the popular direct-selling company that offers amazing totes, purses and more), with a donation of one of their products, such as a tote bag or blanket, up to a total of $1M worth of products for women and girls in need around the world.
Why the need for bags and totes?
Bags like this one, the Zip-Top Organizing Utility Tote, have recently been distributed to volunteers in Burundi. They use the totes to carry materials for educating families about malnutrition. Before receiving the totes, volunteers like Renathe Kabageni, pictured above, carried all of their materials and equipment by hand.
The simple gift of these tote bags preserves teaching materials (think about carrying papers by hand when it starts to rain!), making it easier for volunteers to visit each home, no matter what the weather, with materials safe in hand. Products donated by Thirty-One Gifts to World Vision on #GivingTuesdaym through this partnership will be shared with communities in need, so that women like Renathe are able to continue the important education they are providing.
Since it began in 1996, the World Vision Gift Catalog has grown in popularity as a gift-giving alternative; featuring over 100 ways to improve the lives of children through gifts such as: clean water, food, medicine, education, job training and small business loans, among others. We've been thrilled to partner with them every year, and to bring you such wonderful ways to give to friends and family, in meaningful ways that truly make a DIFFERENCE to those in need! I'll be sharing more about World Vision more before Christmas too. Their gifts range in price from $16 to $39,000 and can be made in a loved one’s name. Last year alone more than 822,000 people were helped through the Catalog. To order from World Vision’s Gift Catalog, visit World Vision or call 855-WV-GIFTS.
To help everyone remember to give back during the year as well, Thirty-One Gifts (which was founded on the principle of helping women and is known for their charitable heart), has partnered with World Vision and bloggers to offer a giveaway of one of their most popular totes. from the popular Thirty-One Gives line. The tote gives back as well with a donation of 31 cents from every sale, going to from a philanthropic fund. It also delivers an inspiring message on the inside with encouraging words for women.
I started using the bag for transporting all the items Miss Grace needs for festival performances. As you can see, you can get quite a bit in the tote! I have her dance wig and accessories in the ice cream container, her shoes, hair spray, shoe shine, socks, and room for a water bottle inside the bag. Plus I can fit my camera and crossbody bag on top.
Then there are pockets on both outer sides, for things like small boxes and your cell phone. You can fit SO much into this bag it's scary! LOL. It's perfect for taking like we do for extra-curricular activities., but it also is great for carrying my purse, laptop and materials, for meetings, classes or travel. Its the really all in one tote you need! So I'm thrilled one f you gets to win one too!
One BTHM reader will win this wonderful tote.
Shipment on totes will NOT be until January, and will be to US address only
