Today's second entry for History Corner, also includes and amazing woman,
who accomplished a great deal and truly made a difference in the world!
A fearless life. A reckless love.
They broke everything but her spirit. They took everything but her dream. NOBLE, the award-winning feature film, is the incredible true story of a fearless Irish heroine driven by her daring vision to escape the slums of Ireland and risk everything on the streets of Vietnam.
Christina Noble dreamed a dream, but it wasn’t the type of dream that brings peace in the midst of trouble or joy of a happier future. Christina Noble dreamed of war-soaked Vietnam, of children in trouble, of cries for help. While some people might run from such a dream, Noble knew that the dream was from God, and she pursued that dream faithfully. Because of her, thousands of children have been saved.
Winner of six U.S. film festival awards, including the Panavision Spirit Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the powerful biopic drama written and directed by Stephen Bradley is heralded by critics as “raw and genuinely powerful,” “captivating” and “moving.” The Hollywood Reporter calls it “a joyful and rousing affirmation of the human spirit that will resound widely.”
You may remember that I shared with you about this amazing film when it made it's theatrical debut last year. To me, Christina Noble, truly emphasizes the category of 'Wise Irish Women', that was our Celtic Associations's Parade theme this year! For being wise isn't always being the smartest in the room, is it? It's seeing a need, knowing who to call and HOW to get things done, and never giving up. And that is Christina!
Plus, if you are feeling the Downtown Abbey loss still, Brendan Coyle is one of the main characters in the film! AHA! I do wish there had been extras on the DVD, but they decided to keep it simple, and have a lower price, which I can understand. If you are looking for an interview with the director, Stephen Bradley, about making the movie, this one is great!
This is an amazing film, I really can't tell you HOW inspiring it is to see what all Christina accomplished, pretty much by sheer will and perseverance! It is perfect for giving to Mom, or for having a girls night in, with multiple generations of moms and daughters watching this film. There is so much that can be learned from her experience and the history of her project.
I really can't recommend this movie enough, and urge everyone to see it!
