Lisa is one of my favorite authors! Her books are always well written! This book takes place in the same local as Fragile, and is a great follow up! Unfortunately, I had a delay in posting, yet it is the perfect 'ghost' book for October for adults!
Synopsis: After giving up his post at the Hollows Police Department, Jones Cooper is at loose ends. He is having trouble facing a horrible event from his past and finding a second act. He’s in therapy. Then, on a brisk October morning, he has a visitor. Eloise Montgomery (the psychic who plays a key role in Fragile) comes to him with predictions about his future, some of them dire.
Michael Holt, a young man who grew up in The Hollows, has returned looking for answers about his mother, who went missing many years earlier. He has hired local PI Ray Muldune and psychic Eloise Montgomery to help him solve the mystery that has haunted him. What he finds might be his undoing.
Fifteen-year-old Willow Graves is exiled to The Hollows from Manhattan when six months earlier she moved to the quiet town with her novelist mother after a bitter divorce. Willow is acting out, spending time with kids that bring out the worst in her. And when things get hard, she has a tendency to run away—a predilection that might lead her to dark places.About the Author: Lisa was born in New Haven, Connecticut, but grew up in the Netherlands, England, New Jersey and New York, where she graduated from the New School for Social Research. Her novels have sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. and have been translated into 26 different languages. Lisa now divides her time, along with her husband and daughter, between Florida and New York City.
Review: I loved Fragile, and this is a perfect follow up! I love stories that have some of the same characters and yet tell the other side of the city, so to speak! This is a very fast read- I read it in 3 sittings! The astute reader might see the ending coming, but HOW it all works out is the fun of the read! Lisa has also set it up for another book, from The Hollows, and I for one would be happy to read it!
The book is an interesting blend of fiction, small town life, the psychology of letting go and moving on, secrets and their damaging effects, and new beginnings. In sum, a perfect read for Fall! PLUS, with the supernatural realm added, it's perfect for a grown up ghost story! If you like your mysteries full of real life type characters, you'll love this book!
