Earlier this year I reviewed Alexandrea's previous book, set in New Orleans, Recovery. This is the follow up book, and the latest (and last?) in her Nicci Beauvoir / David Alexander series!
Synopsis: Stunned after seeing a man she believes to be David Alexander in a crowd outside of the St. Louis Cathedral, Nicci goes on a desperate hunt for the truth about David's demise. But to get the information she desires, Nicci must team up with David's former boss, the ruthless Simon La Roy.
One night on a deserted French Quarter street, Nicci unexpectedly learns what really happened to David Alexander. Now she must engage in a deadly game of intrigue to keep what she has unearthed from Simon La Roy. In a final confrontation, a revengeful Simon forces Nicci to choose between her life and revealing all that she has discovered about David Alexander.
"I wanted to bring to a close the Nicci Beauvoir series with an edgy story. This is a darker and definitely more intense novel than my two previous works. It will immerse the reader in David Alexander's world, and answer all the questions generated by my second novel, Recovery, Weis says.
Review: YEAH, all the questions left unanswered in Recovery are fully and finally resolved! I was halfway through the book before I realized it, as Weis' dialogue and authentic New Orleans locations/culture, makes the book read VERY fast! Part of me realized where the book was heading and wasn't happy, but by the end of the book, I realized why Weis had ended it like she did, and it was a very satisfying read! I highly recommend the entire series as a great New Orleans themed Christmas present!
"About the Author: Alexandrea Weis' popular first novel, To My Senses, received rave reviews and garnered awards for both commercial fiction and romance writing, including 2007 finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award for commercial fiction and 2007 finalist for ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year. A permitted wildlife rehabber with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Weis rescues orphaned and injured wildlife. She lives with her husband and pets in the New Orleans area. "

I agree with Linda and Holdenj
ReplyDelete100%. Time is so valuable to me to. My sacrifice would be doing more for others instead of for myself.
