Book Review and Giveaway: Lightning fast French Strikes Again by Carol Woods

Back in April we reviewed Lightning Fast French, the easy way to learn French for parents and their kids, and Carol is back with a second book!

Lightning fast French Strikes Again cover

Synopsis: No time to learn French?

Want to teach your children but don't speak French yourself?

Lightning-Fast French helps you incorporate French into your every day activities, so you learn while doing the things you already do. This second book in the Lightning-fast French series has lots more fun conversations, games and activities for you to incorporate French in your daily life. The chapters stand alone, so you don't need prior French experience or the first book to jump right in and start learning and teaching your family!

You'll teach your children French the same way you taught them English - by interacting with them as you do daily activities. No need to set aside extra time in your busy schedule, and no need to speak French yourself - with this unique program, you both learn as you go. You'll be amazed at how quickly you see results! If you want to get your family speaking French fast - this book is for you! Lightning-Fast French is:

  •  Built around every day situations - no need to set aside special time, and you will use your new language the first day!
  • Ready to use with phonetic pronunciation included - no current French knowledge needed!
  • Fun and easy to start!

Review: The fun definitely continues with this book, and learning French is easy!
Each chapter has a preparation section (items to get to help enforce the words being learned), then goes into a conversation suing the vocabulary words. The conversation sentences are simple, and very applicable and easy to learn. Chapters include My pet, Evening Routine (brushing teeth, getting on pajamas, etc), At the grocery, My friends and family, What day is it?, Eating in a restaurant and What time is it?

Making learning a language fun, by setting up a play 'store' and going shopping, fro instance, is a great way to reinforce vocabulary and conversation with kids! From item names, to prices, to using numbers, Kiddo had alot of fun, and some of the words have stayed with her, even without practice.

I had to laugh when I went through some of the conversations, and vocabulary, as I remembered a similar session from childhood, while in Girl Scouts (scouting will be coming up again later this week)! in fact, these books would be perfect for troop leaders looking for coursework in language skills, to go with an ethnic/foreign country lesson, or just for fun for a holiday (like Bastille Day or Cinco de Mayo). The crossword puzzles included are a great memory enhancement, and playing Simon Says in French is pretty hysterical, with some mispronounciations and screaming! The scavenger hunts are perfect for the older kids!

i really recommend this series as a super way to begin to introduce a language to your kids, class, troop, and even for yourself! Check it out and you'll agree!
