Giveaway/ CLOSED/ Book Review: Divorce Sucks by Mary Jo Eustace

Anna over at FSB has the neatest books land on her desk. And she always seems to send them my way- just gotta love the girl, don't you? 

Now contrary to the title, I am not in need of said advice, but I thought it would be an interesting read from HER standpoint and the whole messy Hollywood/Lifetime Movie for Real Divorce. Especially in the time of the dueling Gosselins, maybe we could all learn something.....

This voyeuristic glimpse into one of Hollywood’s most notorious divorces, Divorce Sucks:  What to do When Irreconcilable Differences, Lawyer Fees, and Your Ex’s Hollywood Wife Make You Miserable (released in October 20, 2009) is one part tell-all and one part divorce survival guide.  With wit, candor, and class, Mary Jo reveals what the tabloids didn’t (Mary Jo was married to Dean McDermott for thirteen years before Dean met Tori Spelling on the set of the Lifetime made-for-TV movie Mind Over Murder, and decided THREE weeks later to leave his wife for Tori. Oh wait- they were in the middle of a private adoption of a baby girl! HOW sad is that????? Oh it gets worse- D&T were ENGAGED AND MARRIED within 6 months- Having sold their family home and gone through their savings to support Dean’s quest for fame, Mary Jo was facing the hardest obstacle of her life. Dean on the other hand, was married to Tori six months later and has since gone on to “Tori and Dean” fame. ...OY VEY. )—and in the process shows readers that they too can find their own happy (not made-for-TV) ending. From helping the kids cope to getting back into the dating game, Mary Jo’s first hand account is sometimes horrifying, sometimes gratifying, and never merciful. 

As much as I enjoyed the book, I wish there had been more of Mary Jo's experiences in it. She went on to adopt her daughter by herself (Dean signed away his rights to adopt her-she was ALREADY in their home- SO SO SO sad) and her struggle to get thru this isn't talked of much. I found her fight to keep her son off reality tv enlightening. I think with a little more additions and editing it would have been a 5 star book! I'd place it at a 4 star and worthy of reading if you are going thru this situation (ok not the Tori Spelling part- euuuuuwwww) or know someone who is!
