Christmas Music Thursday- Now That's What I Call Music, Vol 3



If there is one general cd that you need to cover ALL tastes
in your household, this would probably be THE cd to buy!

It is a 2 disc collection- Disc 1 is songs form the 40s-60s,
ALL classics. Disc 2 is new classics, 70s to current.

It's great for a party or for the office! Everybody will find
SOMETHING they like on it!

Disc 1:

O Come All Ye Faithful -Nat King Cole-oh the childhood memories!
Jingle Bells-Frank Sinatra -the 60s are back baby!
Baby, It's Cold Outside -Dean Martin- definitely where Vanessa got her arrangement from!
My Favorite Things -Tony Bennett -Julie Andrews version is #1, but this is a close #2
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year=Andy Williams-1963- ahh the TV memories
Silver Bells =Bing Crosby 1950- THE ULTIMATE classic
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas =Johnny Mathis WELCOME to the holidays!
Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane) = Elvis Presley-1957- Typical Elvis style
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas = Judy Garland- 1944-Judy Judy Judy, we miss you!
Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer = Ella Fitzgerald- super jazzy version
Frosty the Snowman = Gene Autry   IS there any other version, really?
The Little Drummer Boy = Peggy Lee  Upbeat version
Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town = Burl Ives  1965- Who can forget this one?
Winter Wonderland = Louis Armstrong a New Orleans favorite!
Blue Christmas = Johnny Cash - WAAY country, like Elvis's version better myself
Jingle Bell Rock= Brenda Lee 1964 She's a spinner! CLASSIC
The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late) = The Chipmunks -EVERY kids favorite!

Disc 2:
You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch [From Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch ...] = Thurl Ravenscroft So cool to hear separate from the cartoon!
Little Saint Nick = The Beach Boys I grew up on this one, so California!
Noel = Smokey Robinson & the Miracles- not my favorite version
Up on the Housetop = The Jackson 5 1970- classic MJ and his brothers
O Holy Night - Al Green Does anybody set a groove btter than AL? I think not!
Christmas Time Is Here = Dianne Reeves jazzy blues arrangement
Christmas Is My Favorite Time of Year = Kenny Rogers light country version
Shimmy Down the Chimney (Fill Up My Stocking) = Alison Krauss classic Krauss
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree = Cyndi Lauper classic Laupner style, but I prefer the original version by Brenda Lee
Feliz Navidad =Celine Dion it's a valiant attempt just NOT Jose!
I'll Be Home for Christmas = Gloria Estefan My favorite Christmas song of all time, interetsing updated version
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus = Jessica Simpson Ugg- I'm just NOT a Simpson fan
Merry Christmas, Baby = Christina Aguilera wonderful version, great voice!
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing/Gloria (In Excelsis Deo) = Mariah Carey decent version, but I prefer her All I Want for Christmas is You
Santa Baby = The Pussycat Dolls ok, but even Mariah's version is much better
Home = Ne-Yo nice R&B song
It Just Don't Feel Like Xmas (Without You) = Rihanna great R&B song, classic Rhianna
Christmas Wish = Stacie Orrico nice R&B arrangement
12 Days of Christmas = Relient K punk rock version- DUDE- rock out!


So there you have it- see, not bad, not the best, but definitely doable !
