PIP/ Book Review/Giveaway/CLOSED: Heart of My Heart by Kristin Armstrong

Hachette sent me another lovely book this month to review and I was very happy I could share it with all my lovely readers!

I like daily devotionals, which this book is, as they give you a small thought for the day and are perfect to reflect upon when first getting up in the morning (if you have the quite time, or at night, as I use it-I read the next day's devotional, to put the thoughts in my head to think about the next day).

The book is set up like normal devotionals with a bible quote, and then Armstrong's  thoughts that pertain to the quote for daily life.

Synopsis: Whether God is using Kristin to raise children or the children to grow Kristin, He is present in every moment and every page. This warm, real, and insightful devotional celebrates the journey of growth mothers take with their children. Since their births, Kristin realized she has "discovered more about myself and my God in the pursuit of discovering my children." Each entry in this 365-day devotional contains a Bible verse and a personal reflection from Kristin. It is on this intimate, daily walk that mothers can gain the courage to rely on God and emerge as a better woman. 

Armstrong grabbed me in the preface when she said "My personal time line was marked forever, as before and after, upon the birth of my son. ...Things would be required of me that would take me beyond myself....I have discovered more about myself and my God in the pursuit of discovering  and molding my childrens' characters... in raising them I am raised up. ". REALLY- can ANY mother NOT say this? Think back, you KNOW this is SO true!

Armstrong is not 'preachy' in her thought= she gives examples form her own life and her childrens' to explain her thoughts on the bible verse and to make it simple to understand. This would be a super book for a new mother as Armstrong offers many sound concepts on raising strong confident Christian children within the daily devotionals. Many of her thoughts are easy to implement , for example- to teach your children to not be ruled by fear, they need to see YOU do things to conquer your fears/to try new things/experience life, and set the role model for them. The book is set to be released April 9th! I would highly recommend it as a Mother's Day gift as well!

Author Info:
Kristin Armstrong was married to cyclist Lance Armstrong for five years, raising their three children while living in France and Spain. She is the author of a children's book, Lance Armstrong: The Race of His Life, and three other books (Happily Ever After: Walking with Peace and Courage Through  a Year of Divorce, Strength for the Climb, and Work in Progress: An Unfinished Woman’s Guide to Grace). So yes, she DOES have a lot to say about Divorce and overcoming it! She is also a contributing editor for Runner's World magazine and has a blog called Mile Markers at www.runnersworld.com. Kristin is passionate about her Christian faith, her family, her friends, and her career. She speaks French and Spanish, is a marathon runner, and enjoys cooking, reading, painting, and traveling. Kristin now lives in Austin, Texas, with her family--her son, Luke, and twin daughters, Grace and Isabelle.
