PIP/ Review/GIVEAWAY/ CLOSED/ Prima Princessa Swan Lake DVD

I was sent this excellent DVD to review by Prima Princessa Productions via the Product Review Place!

Prima Princessa was started by two work at home moms, Stephanie Troeller and Mary Kate Mellow, who thought it would be great to bring the beauty and wonder of ballet into the lives of young children who otherwise might not have that opportunity. You gotta love the success of these ladies!

Let Mary Kate tell you about the DVD first:

“Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake” will be available March 2, 2010 (tomorrow!)  at widespread distribution (You GO ladies!). This DVD is a hip new twist on learning about ballet, featuring the Paris Opera Ballet and Students from School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center, Official Academy of New York City Ballet. Our 40 minute DVD is a cool, fun, beautiful show with a brain. Prima Princessa, an animated fairy ballerina, magically transports a group of little girls to see the Paris Opera Ballet perform select segments of Swan Lake. In between acts, the children return home to learn simple ballet steps which are playfully shown mixed into colorful montages of toys, animals, children and young dancers from the School of American Ballet.

I LOVED how the ballet was explained to kids in an easy to understand story line and broken down into chunks that they didn't get bored with at all. My daughter was entranced with the first chapter and then advised me we had to stop the dvd so she could put her Wiggles ballet outfit on, so she could 'be a ballerina too'. When I started it back up it was the lesson time and she had a fun time dancing and following the young girls on the screen!

Not being 3 yet, it was hard for her to do as the actual ballerinas were doing, so she added her own interpretations to their steps, when it came time for the 'dance along'. As you can see here(that's the video in the background!):

The ballet dancer lifts ballerina, daughter lifts balloon....

If  there is ONE thing she learned, it was Jete! 

She hears it and starts jumping like a bunny ALL over the house!

You can also get the dvd on Amazon if you don't have a local Target, and at other online retailers (check HERE for list). Coming this spring will be Sleeping Beauty and coming this fall will be the Nutcracker (YEAH- perfect to watch BEFORE seeing the LIVE performance).

Barnes and Noble has the accompanying book, Ballet for Beginners, if you want to make a gift basket, say maybe for EASTER, you Bunny Elves!
