Music Review/ Giveaway: Sex and the City 2 Soundtrack

I was lucky to receive this cd thru the One2One Network for review this week! I have never been a big Sex and the City, but when i saw the allstar line up on this cd, I knew I wanted to check it out!

I thought I'd give you the track listing with my thoughts first:

Here is the complete list of tracks:
1. Alicia Keys “Rapture”- ok, I;m a child of the 80's- she gave it a good try, but it's just not Blondie!
2. Dido “Everything to Lose”-liked this one, good song between keys and Cee Lo
3. Cee Lo “Language of Love”-really liked this one! the exotic beginning really draws you in!
4. Erykah Badu “Window Seat”-you either really like her or you don;t- I cant get past the video on this one...
5. Natacha Atlas “Kidda”-another great WOW, who is this, I need to find out more! song
6. Michael McGregor “Euphrates Dream”- interesting Arabic pop song!
7. Liza Minnelli “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”-ooh I so trying not to get flamed here, but I really liked Beyonce's version better. Liza is Liza and this just isn;t the best song for her, but she gave it a Grade A try!
8. Ricki-Lee "Can't Touch It"- Beyonce sound alike, but likeable
9. Alicia Keys "Emire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down"- love her solo version, but then I really like this song!
10. Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis "Love Is Your Color" THIS is the BEST song on the cd- hands down! If you win/but this cd for one song only- it's gonna be this one!
11. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim  Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon “I Am Woman”- another childhood icon song- sorry- I just couldn;t listen after the 2nd chorus.. SIGH....
12. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “If Ever I Would Leave You” 
13. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Sunrise, Sunset”
14. Sex and the City Men’s Choir “Till There Was You”      all 3 choir songs are really well done. they just seem so out of place with the rest of the songs here. On the third listen I was skipping them (and I like these songs), as they just ruined the up beat of the album for me....
15.  Shayna Steele, Jordan Ballard, Kamilah Marshall “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” nice arrangement of a great song
16.  Liza Minnelli with Billy Stritch “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye”- better of the 2 Liza songs!
17.  Cyndi Lauper “True Colors”-my others 80s icon- LOVE this song and always will!
18.  Aaron Zigman “Divas and Dunes”- Instrumental time again


Okay so this is how I would overall review it- the album alternates between upbeat interesting songs and ones that may make you go huh?, Caberet time? But overall it's a fairly decent cd! I'm not sure if I would have bought it, but I definitely would have downloaded 4-5 songs off of it for the mp3 player! if you really like the show/movies, then you're definitely gonna want it!

And because I love my readers and know many of you REALLY want this soundtrack, I've going to offer up this review cd as a giveaway today!
