What comes to mind when I say incense?
Most people imagine the 70's- all traditional Tibetan or Indian incense, or thinking of Asian culture and incense sticks for prayers to Buddha.
But incense has come a LONG way since then! Nowadays different aromas are used for STRESS relief and calming- Feng Shui has taken over so to speak and your grandma/mama's incense isn't what it once was! I personally prefer incense over candles when it comes to taking or adding an aroma to a room-I have yet to find a candle that keep the same aroma at the same level for the same time as an incense stick! A very good how-to use incense sticks is on wiki.
I was recently given the opportunity to review multiple products from the Unique Feng Shui Shop! The US company specializes in wonderful incenses and all things Feng Shui!
I selected 3 stick type incenses and 1 smudge bag to review:
1. Rosemary sticks by Hem- the box contains 20 sticks. each stick is supposed to burn for 20-30 minutes, but I found mine lasted more like 40-45 minutes.
Rosemary is supposed to activate mental forces in Feng Shui. But for me, it was a VERY clean smell that seemed to take all the yucky odors out of the room, and leave a very uplifting smell behind. Sorta like laundry when it has been out on the line and brought inside. That clean happy smell. Definitely a winner and I would buy this one again!
2. Lavender sticks, also by Hem- again the box contained 20 sticks.
Precious Lavender is supposed to balance, soothe and clarify in Feng Shui. But for me, it reminds me of my great aunt and the items tucked away from my great grandmother. It is a nostalgic and comforting scent for me. I found that the incense stayed true
3. Sage sticks, also by Hem. Hem is consistent with 20 sticks per box.
Sage is a traditional scent used to cleanse, purify and detox an area in Feng Shui and many native traditions. Coming from a background of Native American culture, Sage to me is always about CLEAN. If I think a house is just yuck, a little burned sage seems to clear away the yucky smells and just make the place go "ahhhhhh" and sigh in relief. Whenever I burn sage it just seems to produce an area of calm, that really works for me to get my productivity and calm back.
4. Lastly, I picked the Sage and Juniper Bundle.
Juniper Berries has been burned from ancient times to the present. The evergreen tips have properties ranging from healing to mental clarification in Feng Shui. Like Sage, it has been used to cleanse and heal a room, or oneself. The bag I was sent also included a charcoal starter tablet, that is used to actually do the burning of the sage and juniper.
I've been known to grab some sage and sweetgrass and 'detox' a room/house at a sudden notice, just if it felt like it needed it. Generally afterwards the room/house just 'breathed' better and I know for our room, we slept much better afterwards! After the bad illness I had, I definitely wanted to use it! I was very happy with the combination of the juniper and sage- there was a lightness from the juniper and I felt like the illness was totally gone by the time I was done, and I felt renewed and freshed.
I was really impressed with the quality and variety of incense available thru the Unique Feng Shui Shop and I will definitely consider them for my next ourchases!
In the meantime, I wanted to give one of you a chance to try the incense for yourself. So I am offering a giveaway of 2 sticks from each of the boxes above!

I never liked the way the "old" incense smelled! This sounds really nice. I'd love to be entered for this, I love for my house to smell nice.
