I was contacted by Jennifer at eShakti, and offered the chance to order an item and conduct a product review on it, and boy did I jump at the chance! What other dress company do you know that you can have a dress CUSTOMIZED to YOUR measurements for under $80, ESPECIALLY if you are plus sized??
I picked what looked like a great summery ruffle dress and sent off my selection and measurements to eShakti and waited for my dress.
I received my dress in about 3 1/2 weeks. It looked JUST like the picture- YEAH, 1st round passed! BUT, it was WAY too big around the chest and waist- I was sorta swimming in it. OH OH-2nd round not going so well! I had my Mom look at it and she thought we could put in a gather in the back, but it would be alot of material. I was really surprised as I thought with sending custom measurements it would fit better. Mom looked at it some more and thought it might just be how that pattern was made and how it was cut, to allow for the short waist, creating the problem. I contacted Jennifer and she said there was no problem returning it, as that is their return policy if your don't like your dress, or of it doesn't fit right. So off it went back to the company.
I then picked the Tribal Pattern Wood Block print dress, as I thought it might be good for camoflauging bad points, but be a good summer option for church, weddings, funerals (with a black sweater over it) or just for going out, and Mom thought the pattern would work better with my measurements!
The dress is SUPERB and fits really well! Although being short waisted, I'm inclined to take off the unattached fabric belt (I have it wrapped twice AND much looser in my photo than they do on the pix from the website, there is that much material on the belt) and use it for a small bow at the waist where the diagonal seam comes down, and the rest for a matching head scarf, as wearing it on me, as it shows above with the BIG bow,doesn't work as well! The dress also comes in 4 other color combinations! I also HATE posing for pix, so forgive the non-Vanna look, ok? At least you got a pix of me in the dress, right?
Things I really love about the dress:
the quality is just THAT good and the styles and colors are excellent! Why buy off the rack and have to have items tailored, when you can skip that step and order thru eShakti? I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone, no matter what their seize, but especially if they are odd sized (ie big top, small bottom)!

Things I really love about the dress:
- the cotton is a NICE medium weight- you don't feel like it's cheap material
- the dress has a great underslip, so if you have to, you can go sans slip (helpful with our humid days)- see pix to the right-dress is lined, then there is a slip attached to bottom skirt area as well!
- being able to customize by measurements meant the dress fits perfectly- not too long or too short
- the sewing is VERY nice! My Mom, who is a much better sewer than I am, looked at the construction and gave her approval as to something that will LAST!
