Gorton's Fisherman Product Review / Giveaway

Unlike my daughter, I was one of those kids who ADORED fish sticks as a kid. Really, it was the only fish (haddock) that I would eat besides rainbow trout! Can you tell I didn't spend my early formative years in the South? Now my daughter is the reverse- she'll only eat catfish, and hates fish sticks! BUT we both love popcorn shrimp!

Lucky for us Gorton's has a full product line that can satisfy everybody in the house!

Gorton's has been in business since 1849! And I thought it has just been all my childhood! You knew when you saw the yellow slicker on the box you were getting a great tasting product! They've really expanded since I was a kid, with grilled salmon, tilapia and shrimp, to speciality battered fish (like potato crusted).

Gorton's was kind enough to send my family some coupons to retry Gorton's to taste the changes, and see the new packaging! Unfortunately we had problems with our local, and some not local, stores not carrying the full Gorton's line! We were able to find the beer battered filets, crunchy fishsticks and popcorn shrimp, so we had a good sampling of their lines!

The popcorn shrimp was a hit as always- it' s such a perfect appetizer- you check out Gorton's website for really great recipes to use it with!

I have always loved traditional English style fish n chips, and I have to say that the beer battered fillets really do fit the bill quit nicely! Bake them crunchy and add some malt vinegar and you'd swear you were across the pond!

Both the fillets and fishsticks now come in resealable bags! It's about time! So much easier than opening the box and having to put in a resealable bag yourself to keep from having freezer burn! The fish sticks are still great tasting and the breading is excellent! Daughter wouldn't eat them, but she did try the fillet.


I wish we had been able to find and try the lemon or garlic butter fillets or the grilled tilapia.! They look positively yummy! And the recipes for them are WOW, like the Grilled Garlic Butter Fillets over Parmesan Rice (pictured below!)
