Vacation Bible School Last Thoughts.........

Darling daughter had a great time last week at Vacation Bible School and it was amazing to see her understanding concepts being taught to a wide range of kids!

First and foremost i have to give a HUGE round of applause and kudos to the mission team (of adults AND teenagers) from St Vincent's Church in Fort Worth (Bedford actually), TX, who came over to our church and stayed the week and taught the VBS with such enthusiasm and spirit. We truly could NOT have had such a successful VBS without them! They've had to cancel mission trips to Mexico due to the unrest there and have taken on helping smaller churches with VBS instead. WOW- the members are very dedicated and lovely individuals who are making the world a better place!

Cokesbury, the makers of the Galactic Blast VBS program, should be commended for an excellent well-rounded program. They have everything in a complete package- from decorations, to decorating ideas, a full curriculum including praise phrases, songs, bible readings, sign language education, science education, puppet dialogues and crafts! WHEW! VBS has come a LONG way since I taught it back in High School! I really loved that the program taught kids to take care of the earth and things they could do like recycling-it is a very well rounded program! In fact, daughter keeps bugging me to have a yard sale so we can get rid of her excess toys and clothes (see she really did pay attention!), but of course she doesn't understand what all is involved for Mama and Daddy to run it all day! Typical 3 yr old. but now I know she is more than ready for pre-school and will be fine there all day (WAAAAAAAA, my baby!).

It was fun to watch daughter learn the songs (and most of the accompanying hand motions/sign language, though she didn't get them coordinated enough) and I know she'll look back at the video one day and cringe, but we adore it! The songs are currently are currently on heavy rotation in my truck, and daughter still remembers the songs based on the loud singing from the backseat! But it is great to hear her singing songs of praise, so I'm happy (I just can't get the songs out of my head for hours afterwards-LOL- don't believe me? Click on the link above and listen to the songs-you'll see!!!!!).
