Infused Olive Oil
1. Pick up fresh herbs at the grocery or weekend market (or your garden, if you're luck!)some good herbs to use are: thyme, rosemary, silantro, oregano, mint, dill, parsley, basil and chive.2. Wash and dry herbs. Using mortar and pestle, if possible, grind herbs LOOSELY.
3. Choose a decorate glass or ceramic bottle.Drop your ground herbs and a couple of whole sprigs of the same herb, and using a funnel, pour in the olive oil to fill, Seal the bottle tightly.
4. Label if desired and refrigerate until given to recipient (infused oils MUST be refigerated).
5, Use oil on salads, to cook with, use for meat marinades, over vegetables and for dip for bread!
See EASY, and if you involve your kids in picking out the herbs and bottles, also a very good teaching experience!
Review: Most fo the crafts in this book are very easy to make and would work well for the whole holiday season, Fall thru Christmas! Many of the gift would be lovely hostess gifts for Fall events, or can be altered for fall/thanksgiving theme/colors! She also includes some basic recipes that are perfect for the seasn, along with her sample menus (traditional and modern), for those that may have never hosted holiday parties before.
This is a good basic starter book and I would recommend it for all newlyweds (themed bridal shower basket maybe?) and those buying their first houses. It is also a great book for kids and parents to work on simple crafts together, to make the season more heartfelt and meaningful to children. it is very inexpensive, but gives you alot of great crafts that will help your kids hone crafting skills as well!
