Mailbox Tuesday; Marie Callendar Fresh Flavor Steamers

I recently was sent a couple of coupons for Marie Callendar's Fresh Flavor Steamers and was eager to try them.

The frozen entrees that use steam cooking for fresh-tasting meals in five minutes or less. The meals use a proprietary tray-in-tray steaming technology, that separates the sauce from the rest of the ingredients during cooking. As the sauce heats up, it steams the ingredients for the fresh flavors and textures you expect from a homemade meal. REALLY REALLY like homemade!

Fresh Flavor Steamers include recipes such as: Asian-inspired Sesame Chicken; Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Stir Fry with Vegetables; classic American recipes Smoky Cheddar Mac & Uncured Bacon; Creamy Chicken & Portobello Risotto; and a Mexican-inspired Chicken Fajita Bowl. The entrees retail for an average of $2.99.

MC Balsamic CHicken
I started with Fettucini Balsamic Chicken= it has egg noodles, white meat chicken, spinach, and mushrooms in a balsamic reduction sauce. One bowl has  420 calories. WOW is the best reaction! It tasted JUST like a home made sauce and the chicken was fresh- none of the frozen is it really chicken taste/ AND the spinach really tasted like fresh spinach. Served with a roll or piece of bread, or a light salad, it was more than a complete meal and YUMMY! I would definitely eat this one again!

FIVE stars on this one!

MC Chicken Piccata
My second choice was Penne Chicken Piccata- Penne with a white wine butter reduction sauce with white meat chicken, spinach parmesan cheese and capers. YES, capers! Sorry I forgot to write down how many calories, but I think it was about 450. This is a great piccata! You wouldn't think you could get such a great piccata from a frozen meal, but you can! Like the Balsamic Chicken, the chicken and spinach was really fresh and tasty. While Balsamic was my favorite, this was a really close #2!
