Sunmaid Friday: Sunmaid Raisins- Your Holiday Essential! Part 1


 As part of our Welcome to Fall Ya'll bonanza, I'd like to introduce you to 
one OUR staples during the holiday season:
SunMaid Raisins!

Growing up I didn't KNOW there was any other brand than Sun-Maid
We ate them year round, but when it came Fall/Winter holiday time, they really became a permanent staple around the house and in most of the side dishes and desserts on the holiday table!


So every Friday during October, I'll be sharing some wonderful recipes with you that feature Sun-Maid Raisins and are perfect for YOUR holiday an everyday tables!


Today, we're going to share one of our family's favorite appetizers/party food/condiments.


Mom's Holiday Relish

Ingredients

3 cups apple cider
3 cups orange juice
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 6-ounce package Sun-Maid Cape Cod Cranberries
1 7-ounce package Sun-Maid Fruit Bits
1 6-ounce package Sun-Maid Goldens and Cherries
3/4 cup Sun-Maid Natural Raisins  (we use the white raisins)
1/4 cup brown sugar
Pinch of ground cloves (to taste, some people don't like a strong taste of clove)
salt and pepper, to taste
 
Directions:

1. Cook all ingredients in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally, for 30 to 35 minutes, until liquid is syrupy. Remove from heat.
2. Taste, season with salt and pepper, taste again and adjust seasoning, if necessary.
3. Chill, covered, for up to a week. Serve with holiday ham or turkey. Also excellent over warn Brie and served with crackers.

Makes 6 servings.
