Thanks to RMD Advertising, we were introduced this past weekend to a WONDERFUL brand of tomato products, Dei Fratelli.
Dei Fratelli is a family owned, FOUR generation based canned tomato business, which has become a full line of tomato products, including pasta sauces, salsas, juices, and even sauerkraut!! They control everything from start (selection of plants), to growing (farmers mainly in Ohio, work for them alone) to finish (control of manufacturing the same way they've done it for four generations!)
We were sent a full assortment of their products to review, and they are SO SO SO wonderful, that I will be featuring them weekly with recipes from our home, or their website! Oh yes, I am in LOVE with the Dei Fratelli products!
It was a super hard decision on what products to try first, but we needed a quick dinner on Friday, so I opted for Spaghetti Marinara.
We were sent both the Traditional and the Tomato and Basil Sauce pasta sauces, in heavy glass jars. Upon opening them, kiddo demanded her own taste test. I was intriqued to see which one my 3 yr old would like best! I didn't tell her what they were, and she picked the Tomato and Basil! Hmmm, we may have a chef on our hands after all!
To the 2 sauces I added a large can of the Dei Fratelli Seasoned Diced Tomatoes. Let me say first that I have NEVER seen such RED tomatoes in a CAN. Preserved by Mom and Grandmas, yes, from a manufactured can, NO! One look and you WANTED to eat them and awe at their rich color.
THEN you taste them. Even uncooked, they were the freshest tomatoes ever from a can. Seriously, when Dei Fratelli says on their products "so good, you'll swear you picked them yourselves" they are NOT kidding!
PLUS, these sauces and tomatoes are better for you, as they use Sea Salt in all their products!
Now remember, I have all of THREE ingredients in the pan. Kiddo and I taste tested the combination, looked at each other, tasted again, and said Wala! We were DONE. We always have to add and work with jar sauces. NOT this time. I swear, one taste and I swore I had made my MAMA"S homemade marinara sauce! YES, the combo was THAT good!
We finished the meatballs in the over (is there anything better than precooked meatballs? Seriously, they just make life so much easier and better, don't they???), and added them to the sauce. Some garlic bread baked and pasta boiled, and dinner was READY. Just that quick and simple, but more importantly, EXCELLENT homemade tasting!
I knew ya'll would not believe me on the color, so check out the end results:
Oh, this was the leftovers! AND it was taken with a cell phone. So imagine if I had taken it with the SLR camera! YUP The red would have popped totally off the page!
We all LOVED this spaghetti marinara. It tasted totally homemade and the tomatoes were perfection.
Dei Fratelli is available at grocery stores in the Midwest, Central and Southeastern states (I'm going yo be hunting them down in the New Orleans area, as my local stores don't carry them). PLUS they sell their products online! WOO HOO!
So stay tuned for some great info and recipes using Dei Fratelli products! And don't forget to sign up for their excellent newsletter as well!
