When I found out I was 1 of 8 bloggers picked out of 150 applicants (!!) to review this new L’Artiste,The New Generation Lunch Bag from Bright Bins, I did a HUGE Snoopy happy dance! I was SO thrilled to be able to surprise kiddo with a great craft activity/lunch bag! You can only go so far on crafting with a pre-schooler off school for a WEEK,before you need some outside assistance (on that thought, Nina from Sprout, I loved you on day 1 last week, I was ready to throttle you on day 7 this week, those MULTIPLE craft sessions every day really taxed our available craft supply!).
ANYHOO, I digressed there for a moment, sorry! The L’Artiste,The New Generation Lunch Bag, is a great new way to get kids interested in their lunches, by allowing them to DRAW on their lunch bags with the included markers.
Yup, that's right, they can grafitti their hearts away, because it comes OFF with soap and water! So every day, they can have a newly designed lunch bag! HOW cool is that for your budding artiste?
Kiddo looked at my askance when I said she could DRAW on it, but she quickly got on with the grafitti work, picturing a sunny rainbowy day perfect for flowers to bloom!
Poor thing, she's so conditioned NOT to draw on certain things, that is was hard for her to let go and really draw alot. She kept looking at me like "are you SURE I can draw on this and NOT get in BIG trouble?", aka- "Have you LOST your mind MOM?"
But as you can see, just a little soap and water is ALL that is needed to clean up the bag and start over on another day! Course Kiddo wasn't too happy that her artwork was GONE (afterall she has a BOX to store her artwork/school work in everyday, and insists that all artwork be kept!). Course she was happy when I said she got to color on it AGAIN! She still thinks I've lost my mind, I think, but she's willing to go along if it means she can draw! I think it's also great for kids at lunch, as if you include the markers, they can finish their drawings at lunch, or share the markers and have a group draw-a-thon!
They do recommend cleaning daily, and not leaving on for over 7 days. This stands to reason, as they are washable markers, and that's the norm for them.
The Next Generation Lunch Box is SO cool, that when kiddo opened it, that was literally the FIRST thing she said! There is a top compartment sized for a sandwich or rollups or a wrap, or an entree. It has a GASKET on it to keep it from leaking as well! Now they don't recommend runny items like soup, which makes sense, as the plastic is a PLIABLE plastic. Yup- if the latch gets pulled out too far by your kids in a rush, it can be bent BACK in place, without harming the box! Oh yes, the designers had kids and husbands apparently!
The box also has a bottom compartment that is already split into 3 smaller compartments! YEAH, a Bento box finally for Mom! Now your fruit, chips and dip will NOT co-mingle! You KNOW how kids feel about that!
The box is dishwasher AND microwave safe, as well as free of all the bad plastics! Yippee. Oh and because it has that cute little handle, you can carry it all by yourself if you want to! And you can fit some Little People People, jewelry and ornaments, inside of it if you try...SIGH, not it's intended use, but when it looks like a carrying case, and you have a 3 year old girl, you gotta expect some fashion experiments!
The super best thing is that if your child (or you/your spouse) uses the bag daily instead of using plastic baggies, you can save over $60 each year! Did you know that packing a lunch box with four plastic bags, five days a week, for one year, wastes almost 1000 bags per person? WOW- scary isn't it? using this type of lunch bag is SO easy and such a great way to make a difference in our environment AND your pocketbook!
AND best of all- right now, for a limited time, the bag set is 35% OFF! The outside bag is grey, but you have your choice of red or blue new generation lunch boxes for inside. And shortly they will also have a velcro option, to keep it inside the bag better, for your more active kids! But if your kids wants more personalization, you can get one of the Bright Bins lunch bags with pre-printed designs and the Next Generation Lunch Box inside!
These boxes are super and I HIGHLY recommend them for Christmas presents for EVERYBODY on your list- even adults will love their versatility and design! And admit it, you want the bag for yourself too, don't ya?
So go get a couple and save the arguments over who gets to use it!
