Thanks to RMD Advertising, we were introduced this past weekend to a WONDERFUL brand of tomato products, Dei Fratelli.
Dei Fratelli is a family owned, FOUR generation based canned tomato business, which has become a full line of tomato products, including pasta sauces, salsas, juices, and even sauerkraut!! They control everything from start (selection of plants), to growing (farmers mainly in Ohio, work for them alone) to finish (control of manufacturing the same way they've done it for four generations!)
We were sent a full assortment of their products to review, and they are SO SO SO wonderful, that I will be featuring them weekly with recipes from our home, or their website! Oh yes, I am in LOVE with the Dei Fratelli products!
Last week we opened their Marinara Sauces and Seasoned Tomatoes for Spaghetti Marina. It was a super hard for us to decide which Dei Fratelli product to use/open next! We decided to go with the jar of Regular Salsa!
The tomatoes are the key to the salsa. Sturdy diced tomatoes add more body and a delightful flavor transform everyday salsa to perfection with just the right amount of peppers, onions and garlic. The salsa is just flat out GOOD, you aren't overwhelmed by too many jalepenos or chilis. You TASTE the flavor of the tomatoes being caressed by the spices! This one was 5 stars by EVERYBODY in the house- and we normally can't agree on one FAVORITE salsa. But, I think we all agree, this may be the ONE!
In fact, Mom came up with a recipe on the spot and got us all thinking about the next jar of Dei Fratelli salsa!
1 small can of Mexi-corn
1 jar Dei Fratelli Medium or Mild Salsa
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
1 14 1/2 oz can of Dei Fratelli Seasoned tomatoes, undrained
1 cup shredded Mozarella cheese
1. Cook and drain pasta,as directed on package.
2 .While pasta is cooking, heat remaining ingredients (except for the cheese) in a medium pot over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes.
3. Stir in the pasta and sprinkle with cheese. Cover and let stand for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Note: You can add sliced jalapenos for more heat to the dish.
Dei Fratelli is available at grocery stores in the Midwest, Central and Southeastern states (I'm going yo be hunting them down in the New Orleans area, as my local stores don't carry them). PLUS they sell their products online! WOO HOO!
Check em out today!
So stay tuned for some great info and recipes using Dei Fratelli products! And don't forget to sign up for their excellent newsletter as well!
