Ammo Books has done it again!

We were recently sent the wonderful Charley Harper's Coloring Book of Birds to review, that they are now publishing! Don't know Charley Harper?

For more than four decades, Charley Harper (1922-2007) provided art collectors with unique views of the natural world. In a style that Harper called "minimal realism," the artist created stylized drawings and paintings that captured the essence of his subjects using the fewest possible elements. From his groundbreaking mid-century illustrations for Ford Times Magazine and Golden Books, his impeccably composed posters for the National Parks and other wildlife organizations, and to his whimsical serigraph and giclee prints, Charley Harper's art is a beloved treasure and an inspiration to an entire generation of artists and designers.

Synopsis:  This new Charley Harper Coloring Book focuses exclusively on his delightful and plentiful illustrations of birds. Charley's beloved birds are gracefully translated here into 32 black-and-white line drawings for young, budding artists to interpret in their own color palettes. As a reference, the back cover shows every one of the 32 images featured in their full-color original versions.

Each drawing is printed on white paper on one side only to help keep markers from bleeding through to another image. Each page is also perforated at the top, for easy removal to place your young artist’s drawing on the wall or refrigerator! That's my version of a blue jay to the right.

Review: WOW- this has got to be the coolest coloring book for kids AND adults! I don;t know about you- but I loved coloring and as I got older, my mother got me line drawing books, where you could make your own designs?  This is the next step- now you can take Harper's excellent drawing and change them to fit the colors of YOUR decor. Or you can give them to your kiddo and let them express themselves!

We found that my copying and down sizing, then duplicating in reverse, you can make ornaments for your Christmas tree!  You can color, pastel, paint or use markers and get different looks every time. This is THE book for your inner artist, and for any kid you know who is an artist at heart!

This is definitely a keeper and one I will be happy to give to friends and family!
