Tom wanted his grandson to have something tangible, especially in this digital age, to remember the wisdom only a grandparent can provide. So he began by writing Letters to Ethan. "We live in an era where technology has taken us away from relationships and family," McQueen says. "My goal with Letters to Ethan is to encourage people to return to spending time with their families and developing those relationships."
These letters have universal application and highlight themes that form the building blocks of a healthy character.
About the Author: Tom McQueen currently lives in Palm Harbor, Fla., with his wife, Dottie. When he is not spending time with his family, McQueen serves as president of the American Family Foundation, and counsels others as a personal coach. McQueen also shared his expertise in relationships consulting with Fortune 500 companies on performance, process and profit improvement.
Encouraging others to share wisdom through letters, parents and grandparents can upload their own letters on the Legacy Nation campaign website, which McQueen will use in presentations across the country in 2011. The Legacy Nation website will also offer visitors enrollment in the Child Protection Technology Team, which will provide the most advanced technological resources available to reduce the incidents of child abductions and exploitation.
Review: I loved this book! So much so that I could only read 1-2 chapters at a time! McQueen put SO much COMMON SENSE into his letters/chapters, that they give you pause to recollect on what YOU were taught by your parents/grandparents, in relationship to the topic at hand! When you finish this book, you will find yourself going back thru and making comments on the margins, and wanting to make your own legacy letters to your child/granchildren!

The biggest blessing we can give our children is continuity of their history- being able to absorb life lessons from their grandparents is one way this can occur. We are blessed that my parents live with us and hubby's are not far away. Kiddo also gets to see her extended family as well. There is nothing better for a child than to learn from their family, combined with unconditional love that grandparents have for their grandchildren, the lessons that will carry them thru life.
