This would normally have posted yesterday, but I was sick. In light of the problems going on in Egypt, the shutting down of all communications in the book, seems errily prescient!
Now on to hubby's review!
Synopsis: When Jim Martini goes back to his WV hometown to see why its major employer failed, suddenly he finds more than a failed company. He risks his life, finds a lost love, and stumbles into an international conspiracy. A Chinese revolutionary group is using viruses, hacking, malware and cyber-technology to over-throw its own government, and attempt to control the US--by shutting down all forms of computers and communications--all at once.
Suddenly nothing works-communications are "silenced". The US is preoccupied fighting global terrorism, so it's up to Jim, hometown friends and a small team of CIA, FBI, and NSA agents to overcome this devastating threat and stop The Chinese Conspiracy. Set in the lush mountains of West Virginia and half-way around the world in China, The Chinese Conspiracy weaves a chilling tale of cyber-terrorism, current events and a tender love story
About the Author: John Mariotti is an award winning business author and an internationally recognized executive, consultant, keynote speaker. Mariotti started his career in the telecommunications industry, and was deeply involved in governmental affairs during parts of his career. He has written hundreds of articles and columns and nine non-fiction books. John is Founder of the Reunion Conference series, now in its 14th year. Since 2001 he has published THE ENTERPRISE, a weekly on-line newletter and web-blog. He holds a B. S. M. E., from Bradley University and an M. S. M. E. from the University of Wisconsin. He lives in the Columbus, OH area. John can be reached at http://www.mariotti.net/ or http://www.thechineseconspiracy.com/
Review: John Mariotti's new book is very interesting in light of the recent suspected Chinese cyber attacks and recent showing of the new Chinese stealth fighter which looks to be a copy of our F-22 Raptor. The book shows how vulnerable we are to various computer virus's, Trojan horses and Back Doors in our computer systems. The book is about how a successful son from the city of Briggs WV, stumbles upon the conspiracy, while investigating why a big manufacturing company in the city just up and fails and declared bankruptcy basically overnight.
The main character Jim Martini whom gets caught in a web of trouble and intrigue that stretches from West Virginia, Washington DC and all the way to Guangzhou China, and he reunites with a woman he was in love with in his youth. In China Wei Ying, who is high up in the Chinese government, and runs a massive communications company called Golden Message, plots to become the leader of China through his group called "New Guard" and eliminate the current leaders he calls "the Old Men".
This is a 400 page book that I just couldn't put down and took me just 2 days to finish. I recommend this book if you like action with ordinary people, like Jim Martini and friends, joining with CIA and FBI agents to stop this massive threat to the United States in this thrilling book.
Contest will end on February 12th, at midnight. Winner will be picked by Random Number (random.org) on February 13th, and emailed. As soon as winner's info is received, I will mail their book to them the following week!
Disclosure / Disclaimer: I was sent this book, free of charge, for review purposes, by the author via Bostick Communications. No other compensation, monetary or in kind, has been received or implied for this post. Nor was I told how to post about the book either

listening to morning news as I enter and current events in Egypt certainly reflect the plot line. As much as people complain about government, can you imagine having the internet shut down?
