This may seem like a weird time to do a Christmas tree stand review, BUT if you hit alot of stores right now them have them at 50-75% OFF, so I think it's a great time to see if you can find one for NEXT year (oops, make that THIS year-LOL).
We bought the tree stand when we bought our Christmas tree LAST year- we've had an artificial tree for at least 15 years! It's gorgeous and really full and at 12 foot, imposing. BUT....we all wanted kiddo to know the smell and love of a real live Christmas tree. So she got to pick out the Christmas tree she wanted.
We got a lovely 8 foot Douglas Fir that had just been delivered the day before, so it was in great shape. We were lucky in that the Hardware store where we bought the tree also had the Home Logic tree stands on sale, and it was a great buy for under $20.
I really wanted to get the Home Logic EZ Water (hz0) stand, as it holds a tree great and makes it easy to water!
With 2 levels of screws holding the tree, it definitely stayed put thru one attempted cat climb, one 3 yr old constantly pulling limbs to rearrange ornaments and numerous jumps on it by the other cat to pull off ornaments (yes, there was a theme there!). Not to mention constant movement because we forgot to cut off the bottom branches and it took some doing to get all the gifts under it!
The stand holds 1 gallon of water that is easily filled via a side entrance. I found it was very simple to bend down and place my hand on the lip and check the level, so see if the tree needed more water. I had found some tree preservative and we added it on day two and it really helped the tree maintain a constant level of water! The tree looks as great as it did the day we bought it! Yippee!

I definitely think the Home Logic stand was part of the success and am really glad we bought it, and I highly recommend it if you can find it on clearance right now. If not, keep the he name handy and get it in the Fall for your Christmas tree! It comes in two heights- 8" and 10".
