Synopsis: Since her divorce from Eric, Hilary has done everything she can to control life for herself and her son. Beneath a calm surface, she is terrified of failing Seth. She’s worked hard to raise him on her own, and she’s succeeded–he’s now set to graduate from high school and enroll at the University of Illinois with a full scholarship.
But Hilary’s worst fears are realized when there is a rock-climbing accident at a post-graduation campout. A young girl is hurt, and Seth is arrested. Pamela, Eric’s new wife and Seth’s stepmother, blames Hilary for letting Scott go to the campout in the first place. With Seth’s college scholarship now just a distant memory and his entire future at stake, the two women must come together for Seth’s sake.
Is Hilary’s love strong enough to save her son and release him to her ex-husband’s other wife?

About the Author: Deborah Bedford is a career fiction writer who began her professional
life as a journalist in a Colorado mountain town. Deborah and her
husband, Jack, have two children and live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Review: I have never read any of Bedford's books and had heard alot about how wonderful they were, so I was excited to get to review this book! I have to admit her reviews were correct! This was a quick read that really struck home, especially when a best friend mentioned that her son was talking about an unchaperoned Senior trip. WOW- sometimes life gives you the book to read at the right moment!
Bedford may be a Christian writer, but her book is not overt. In fact the main character even says she is "she had been a normal churchgoer..sidled in 10 minutes late..into her favorite seat. being a Christian had been more of a habit than a relationship". That description covers ALOT of people! her book gently illustrates, like the story of Hannah in the bible, that you must learn to trust and let go, and let God, before you will find his love and grace.
The tale of divorce and the love/trust of a mother and son echoes this as well. Many of you will be able to relate to Hilary, having gone thru divorces with kids and trying to work with second spouses, and half-siblings. Bedford brings the common issues into the book- that is one of the reason's it reads so quickly- the dialogue is like looking at yourself/friends/family, you can relate and the story flows quickly.
There are many lessons to learn from this book. It is my fervent hope that my daughter and I have the same trusting relationship that Hilary does with her son in the book. The book can teach us in so many ways and I highly recommend it to anyone, Christian or not.
