SynopsisAt twelve, Gideon Crew witnessed his father, a world-class mathematician, accused of treason and gunned down.

At twenty-four, summoned to his dying mother’s bedside, Gideon learned the truth: His father was framed and deliberately slaughtered. With her last breath, she begged her son to avenge him.

Now, with a new purpose in his life, Gideon crafts a one-time mission of vengeance, aimed at the perpetrator of his father’s destruction. His plan is meticulous, spectacular, and successful.

But from the shadows, someone is watching. A very powerful someone, who is impressed by Gideon’s special skills. Someone who has need of just such a renegade. For Gideon, this operation may be only the beginning .

About the Authors:
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are coauthors of the bestselling novels Relic (forget the movie, READ the book!), Mount Dragon, Reliquary (sequel to Relic, continues the Pendergast series), Riptide, Thunderhead, The Ice Limit (super cool book), The Cabinet of Curiosities, Still Life with Crows, Brimstone, Dance of Death, The Book of the Dead, The Wheel of Darkness, Cemetery Dance, and Fever Dream. Preston’s bestselling nonfiction book, The Monster of Florence, is being made into a major motion picture (LOVE LOVE LOVE this book). His interests include horses, scuba diving, skiing, and exploring the Maine coast in an old lobster boat. Lincoln Child is a former book editor who has published four bestselling novels of his own. He is passionate about motorcycles, exotic parrots, and nineteenth-century English literature. The authors welcome email from their readers; visit their website at www.prestonchild.com

Review: The author's have a really unique way of writing- they trade off chapters. With the onslaught of the digital age it is totally doable and commendable. I have found over their series of books (and yes, I've read them all!) that it makes for a more engaging book. Instead of getting bored with writing a book with the same characters, one of them will hit upon a new tangent, and get the juices flowing for the other and BAM, the book is finished. Pretty cool from my standpoint.

So I came into Gideon with very high hopes. When I tell you I finished the book in 2 days, you KNOW it was a rolicking good read, because if a book is bad, I have to force myself to get through it, and a 2 day read isn't gonna happen! I love this new character! Gideon is everything that Pendergast wasn't- he is flawed in the way humans are- he has some major issues in his past. Pendergast always seemed uber-human, no matter what his issues. I always had a hard time imagining the rest of the Pendergast books being made into movies, as Relic was botched so bad. The books are so complex, they just didn;t translate well to film. But Gideon? Oh Gideon would be a superb tv series, like 24, and I have no trouble imagining quite a few actors as Gideon.

The book takes you literally around the world in a very short time, brings together more acronyms than you can think of, and the protagonist lives. Always a good plot! I really hate to give away too much- sometimes it's better to come into a book with not alot of info about it and be very pleasantly surprised! If you know Preston and Child's novels, you know the book will be complex, imaginative, intelligent and fun! The book gives you hints along the way, but still surprises you. You are on a roller coaster of a ride, yet it doesn't seem like the authors are hurrying to finish. When you read the last chapter, you be like "that's it, it's over already?" But never fear, I believe this will be a new series, if I read that last few pages right! YEAH! If you want a super thriller of a mystery that has something for everyone, male and female, this is the book!
I can't recommend this new book enough. Preston and Child have done it again!
