Book Review: Big Brown Eyes by Naomi Conno

big brown eyes cover Synopsis: In her debut book Big Brown Eyes, author Naomi Connor brings young readers to the center of the story in a discovery-based educational book. Aimed at opening children’s eyes as they begin to explore themselves, it also addresses the changes every child experiences.

“This book appeals to kids who are losing their teeth, to parents who remember losing their first tooth and to grandparents who are keeping the tooth fairy busy,” says Connor. Through clever rhymes and colorful illustrations, Big Brown Eyes candidly captures a child’s first observations as they explore their appearance, allowing the reader to become the main character as they observe what makes us all unique. Interactive and fun, parents and teachers can appreciate the emphasis placed on the values of self-respect and love.

Stimulating their curiosity, Big Brown Eyes educates kids while simultaneously encouraging them to continue reading. “This is about the simple, little things that excite kids,” says Connor. “It’s not restrained by age.”

About the author  The wife of a retired military serviceman and the mother of three, Naomi Connor resides with her family in northern California. Connor works in the health care field and also spends time volunteering. This is her first book.

Review:  Kiddo has been going through a fixation with loosing a tooth, after seeing one of her favorite shows talk about it, so this book came in at a good time for us! Obviously at 4 yrs old she is not going to be going through this soon, but it was a great book for her to check out!

I really liked that the book was multi-cultural and could be shared with students in her class, when the times comes. This is definitely a great book to suggest to the 'tooth fairy' to bring with the advent of the first lost tooth of a child!
