Do you know a special volunteer who deserves some recognition?

Do you know someone who always puts others first?

Do you know someone who will volunteer to clean up a the end of an event and not complain?

Do you know a volunteer who will be the first to arrive and last to leave a school function, church service, awards ceremony, etc?  If so, Carolina Pad and VolunteerSpot want to hear about this special volunteer.

VolunteerSpot is a FREE online resource for volunteers to organize events, a soccer season, church fundraiser and many, many more other volunteer events. VolunteerSpot's FREE online signup sheets make it easy for anyone to schedule and coordinate parent volunteers  -- say goodbye to reply all email and clipboard sign up sheets this spring!

sv and kiddo

For me, my special volunteer is one of my best friends-SV. She goes above and beyond ALL the time.

She pretty much single handedly raised 2 boys (volunteering as a team Mom for every soccer, baseball and basketball game) and now that they are out of school, she is going back to school to finish the degree she left off while raising them and working. Meanwhile she's holding down a full-time job (always the first to volunteer for special community events sponsored by her company), coping with a new marriage and stepchildren (thankfully also older) and staying active in her church.

And then because she didn't have enough to do, she not only took classes and became a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), but just recently finished the CASA mentoring program training and will become a mentor as well as CASA worker for her child appointed to her!

SV is always among the first at whatever function she is going to or in charge of, and goes to work immediately, pitching in where ever help is needed. She always helps the Hostess/Host throughout the event and stays as long as she can to help with cleanup and closing down the event. We like to refer to it as our Southern DNA- aka our Momma's raised us right!-but when everybody who is supposed to be co-hosting a party with you disappears and food needs fixing and serving, that DNA is more than appreciated! I can not tell you HOW many events she has been my saving grace!

SV has been a constant faith sounding board for me and she can always find a path I need to consider. She has been the religious center, as we like to call her, for our circle of friends. She has been a super sounding board for the women who work with her as well. More than once she has assisted someone in getting out of a VERY bad relationship and getting assistance, to move onto a better place for them and their kids.

And she doesn't stop! She is already planning on what she can do once she has her degree, and how she can help women and children in need. Most people would want to get a new job and make more money. Not her, she wants to give back to her community!

So SV, you truly are an asset to your community, your family and friends and you are my Volunteer I admire the most!
