Today's review comes from hubby, as the book is a spy thriller/military/historical fiction novel!
Synopsis: Within hours of an accidental bombing in Iraq, retired CIA sniper Al Robek is summoned to investigate. While battling his own demons from post-traumatic syndrome, Al uncovers one mystery after another. He learns that his former girlfriend, Jess Contreras, was the pilot responsible for the bombing. Together, they find an ancient city buried by the Biblical flood and become the targets of a secret brotherhood bent on triggering an early Armageddon.
Enter Ed Collins, an unassuming British code-cracker, who has been tracking the brotherhood since the end of World War II. With the help of the CIA and the British SAS and MI-5, the trio embarks on a dangerous mission that takes them to the Middle East, Europe, and South America—slowly uncovering evidence of a conspiracy hatched thousands of years ago.
Ultra-secret espionage involving the highest level of government, the Vatican, and international banking brings about new discoveries, but with each comes new questions, new missing pieces to the puzzle.
Can they figure out what is going on before it's too late? Is there anyone they can really trust? Do they know who they're fighting against? Or even what they're fighting for?
The survival of mankind ultimately lies in this unlikely team's hands.
About the Author: Sean Salazar dates his fascination with Middle Eastern culture and Biblical teachings all the way back to age nine. Today, that interest - coupled with studies of philosophy, ancient languages, and military tactics- has fueled a fertile imagination to create this novel. A U.S. Navy veteran and a Freemason for over fourteen years, Sean is a doctor of chiropractic medicine, specializing in sports injury. He lives in Edmonds, Washington. He was also a 2010 WA US senate candidate !
Review: This quick paced book has many players in it, agent Al Robek who is retired at the beginning is reactivated to CIA service, Jess Contreas who is a CIA pilot and has worked for the Vatican earlier in her life, Ed Collins a ex-brit code cracker and Al's friend Vance Mahoney. The different organizations involved in one way or another are the Masons, Knights Templar, International banking, German Nazi's, The Vatican, US CIA, British MI5 & SAS and a doomsday group called "the Brotherhood" AKA "the Sons of Darkness" which has been at war with the masons for thousands of years.
Ed meets up with Jess after a secret bunker buster bomb she accidently dropped in the Iraqi desert uncovers a hidden city along with some unususal technology which gets them involved with "the Brotherhood", and sends them on a quest to uncover similar cities in many parts of the world and they uncover ancient nuclear weapons along with a complicated web of intrigue in the Middle East, South America, Europe, and lastly the US to figure out what "the brotherhood" is up to and what their plan is.
It is a enjoyable fast paced story and I am waiting for and hope to review the 2nd book of this serie when it comes out!
