I have been hearing about how great the Robby Wash ball was and like everybody else, our family is looking at ways to reduce the costs of washing clothes, so I was really excited to try it!
Haven't heard about it?
The Robby Wash laundry ball is distributed by the 'all things clean' experts at Oransi. It is a vented ball, that you fill with laundry phosphate balls once and it lasts for MONTHS. Yes, I said MONTHS!. The company claims that a preloaded Robby Wash laundry ball (which is how it comes in the box), will last about 120 washes of a regular load (ten towels is what they list as a max for one load). That looks like:
"Its activated macromolecules are gradually released through the wash, dissolving dried-in stains by generating ions which activate the water molecules. This increase in the pH enables the activated molecules to penetrate deep into the fabrics and attach themselves to the stains. As the motion of the drum agitates the clothes, the stains come away easily from the fabric and dissolve in the water. " The kit also comes with a stain remover stick, to help loose tough stains!
The kit also includes 2 other macromolecule ball packages, so that your Robby Wash ball will last the whole year. And the ball itself will last thru all those washes up to 3 years (which makes sense, as there is soft rubber around the ball to keep it from damaging your machine)! The ball kits retail for about $33 (blue for general loads (hot and cold), fuschia for color loads (warn/cool). WHICH is you add up all the laundry detergent you buy, you and I both know you'll spend MORE than that in 4-5 months!
Now for the important stuff- HOW WELL DOES IT WORK?
We've tested it on every possible load we could think of, except for baby stains, as we don't have that problem anymore! Overall, it does a GREAT job. The caveat is to NOT overload your loads and to pretreat ALL stains! Generally on Kiddo's clothes, I try to spray with Oxy when they hit the dirty clothes hamper, so that way I know the stain has at least one pre-treatment (cause you and I both know you get in a hurry to get laundry done, and forget to go thru all the clothes and pretreat!). So for her loads, most of the items had pretreatment on them, and then I would do the last items with the stain stick. This worked REALLY well, and everything got wonderfully clean!
For hubby and my uniforms, the stain treatment stick worked great, as did the Robby Wash ball. Uping the ante, the next trial loads were towels. I found that if the towels were NOT rank (ie left wet for days), the Robby Wash ball did great at getting them clean. However, if they were rank, then I found I needed to switch back to old school laundry methods. I also found that although the Robby Wash ball is safe to use with bleach, our whites were just TOO dirty to truly get white white with the ball and bleach. So we opted not to use ti with whites after a couple of trial loads.
For regular perma press and sheets/blankets, the Robby Wash did great again!. Just have to remember to pretreat any stains. Now for the perma press that the guys wore outside working in the yard/on the house/etc, we ended up back on regular methods. We live in the South, with the guys sweating in 96 degree with 98% humidity, the ball just couldn't keep up with the deoderizing aspect. It gave it a valiant try, it was just too tough.
Overall I would say this is definitely a cost saving method- it's better for the environment and your pocketbook! AND for your washer! With less soap residue building up, you tend to not have to clean it as much! AHA! An added bonus!
So check out the Robby Wash ball today- you'll be surprised too!
Now how about winning your own Robby Wash kit to put some ease into YOUR family budget?

The Robby Wash ball works in both front load and top load washers, on any temp of water! The phosphate-free macromolecules in the Robby Wash laundry ball clean and deodorize clothes. HOW?
