What to Do With Seashells....

Ok, you're 4, you have seashells, you want to PLAY with them, but you want a pretty place to put them. Mom says the entire house is being overran with your collection boxes, so what do you do?

Steal an idea from Martha Stewart's Living Magazine!

First you get one large jar- we used an old Jif jar, as we had it around the house! Make sure it is all clean and dry.

Take some craft paints and paint the top to your hearts delight (note: Mom said she is going back and paint the underneath of the top later, and maybe adding a ruffle of some sort, to hide the red from showing through, and making sure top will close).

Super glue a shell to the top when the paint is dry. Then have Mom seal it with a spray, to keep the paint from coming off from constant use (is she implying I'm going to be opening it a lot? Right, she is!)

In the mean time put all your shells in the jar (to make sure they are going to fit), make sure they are dry and sandless too!.

When the top is dry, put it on and admire your handiwork! (plus the painting you made with the leftover paint!)

TADA, instant (sorta) collection jar (sorry for the condensation- too much going in and out of the AC cooled house, per Mom).

Mom says we can do different jars of different sizes and have them for different places we go, so I have Memory Jars, and I can put up on my shelves in my bedroom. Hmm....will have to think about that!

Oh and a second project- Mom took a piece of driftwood I brought home and attached some shells I picked out at the souvenir shop. Something about so I wouldn't break them....oh well...it will look good in my dollhouse....(Mom thinks we need to dye our own shells next, she loves the pink starfish..)
