About GinnyBorn and raised in Jackson, Miss., Owens was discovering melodies on the piano almost before she could complete a sentence. Songs began to emerge from her fingers as the vision began to leave her eyes and by the age of three.  A degenerative eye condition left Owens completely blind.  Despite her physical challenge, Owens pursued a music career.  Songs provide a window into a world Owens can’t see and an outlet for her to express her thoughts and dreams.

A three-time Dove Award winner, including the Gospel Music Association’s 2000 New Artist of the Year recipient, and multiple ASCAP Award winnerGinny Owens has sold nearly one million albums. In 2005 Owens launched The Fingerprint Initiative, a hands-on, non-profit organization designed to “bring hope to the world, one project and one touch at a time.” The organization has partnered with  and raised money for groups such as Compassion International, International Justice Mission and Habitat for Humanity.

Review:  This cd will really appeal to Christian music and pop music listeners alike! It has catchy Pop flavored songs with strong R&B, jazz, and soul overtones, so you almost don't realize she is still singing about spiritual matters! , not while staying lyrically consistent to her profound and inspirational style

The Song is a gorgeous acoustic piece that will have you in awe of Ginny's voice! Before You Fly talks about Jackson's recovery from Katrina and will make anyone affected by the Hurricane a little misty eyed! Rain is about breaking up and every listener will be able to relate and sing along! Better Off is a total jazz song that will have you humming and singins along as well! Daughter of Destiny will appeal to the younger listeners with it's r&b/hip hop feel!

Joined At The Heart is a powerful ballad about adoption that will have most moms tearing up, it's that powerful! But the prime jewel is Higher Ground. Yes, the same song recorded by Stevie Wnder and later the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and one of my all-time favorite songs! Ginny gives it a whole new spin by slowing it down and breathing new life into it as a song about being redeemed and going to Heaven (Ginny wrote alot of the songs while her mother was battling cancer, so there is a underlying focus on most of them).

If you are looking for a cd that you can put in and listen to 'adult' music while ferrying the kids to and from school and practices, but it will have the kids humming and singing along as well! And one lucky BTHM reader will get to win their own copy!
