Book Review and Giveaway: The Last Blind Date by Linda Yellin

Fall 2011 button

And now for something a little different....

The Last Blind Date cover
SynopsisA fun, charming memoir about a woman who falls in love, packs her bags, and starts over in the city that eats its young (New York). It began with a list of the ten most ridiculous things that happened to Linda, when she first moved to New York (after meeting her husband to be, and marrying him). The list kept growing and growing. By the time she was done, she had a book of memories!

About the AuthorLinda Yellin is an American novelist, and humorist. Her original birth name was Melinda Jacobson. When she was 15 she was adopted by her stepfather, and changed her name to Linda Yellin. She first lived in Chicago, Illinois until her family moved to Lincolnwood, Illinois. Most of Linda’s career was spent in the Chicago advertising industry. She has published many national magazine pieces, including several short stories. In 1996 Linda Jacobson Yellin Cadwell Yellin married Randy Arthur, and moved to New York but chose not to change her last name. This is her memoir, and second book.

Review: Anyone who has gotten married, will be able to relate to Linda's memoir! Adjusting to life in a new city, with someone who seems different, trying to win over the step-kids, and finding her way, career wise, in the world of high paced advertising. You'll laugh along with her and feel for her when she is having such a hard time adjusting. Happily, Linda and Randy are still married!

If you're looking for a light read to whittle away the Fall days, this is a great book! In fact, my only quibble was the title! While I understand why they picked it, I think "Learning about Marriage" or "Am I Really Married?" might have been more appropriate! Read it and you will agree!
