"Soulful interiors are built over time, by finding pieces that speak to your taste, style and expression"                       Michelle Adams, designer

Even though there is a definite European vibe to the book (both authors live in Europe), I found SO many things, and I find more every time I look at the book! It is divided into different sections: Spaces, Defining your Style, Room by Room, and Details. Spaces offers advice on multi-use spaces, small spaces and one room living. Many of the ideas can be used in room,s to make them bigger, or add to their versatility, in regular homes.

pendant lightI loved the 'Your Style section'- it really helps you define what IS you decorating style I always thought I was more Eclectic, but no, I more Flea Market. Other styles include Floral, Modern, Natural, Simple, Modern Glamour, and Colorful! They offer guidelines, like lighting, furniture and fabrics to assist you in defining or setting the tone you want.If you're not sure where you want your rooms to be, this section can be a huge help. I found pieces in each that I can use through out our house (aha, so I AM Flea Market, LOL!), like the idea of using this type of pendant light (right pix) over my sewing desk in our multi-purpose room, so I don't have to move it from where it is, but yet have excellent task lighting! And I love the use of the background color with the black and white matching photos in this photo display (left pix)- perfect for those small photos and rooms that need a pop of color!

The room by room section is where the designing the space from the beginning comes out. They offer line drawings of the layout of sample rooms that work very well. If you are getting ready to design and build your own house, or remodel the one you have, this section is a good place to start! We fell in love with this kitchen and plan on using ideas from it on our kitchen remodel! I LOVE the fact that the sink is in the MIDDLE of the room, at the task counter. HOW great would that be when washing dishes?

This is definitely one resource book we'll be using over and over! Think about it for that friend or family member that can use some design help- they'll thank you for it!
