Fall Family Photos

With fall just beginning and the weather cooling off, it is a perfect time to have those family photographs done.

One of my favorite pictures of my family is a casual outside photograph taken in the fall. The leaves are beautiful and there are lots of places to choose from as far as scenery goes. Many photographers offer the option to photograph outdoors as opposed to the studio setting. In my opinion, this gives your photos a more personal feel because they are not cookie cutter backgrounds that they set hundreds of families in. You will never walk into someone’s house and see the exact same photo that you have. You are also able to add your own personal touch by choosing your location. This can be a location that has personal meaning or just a nice backdrop. If family pictures are not in your budget, do not fret. Ask a friend to come along and do your own photo shoot. We have done this many times, and they have often turned out to be some of our best pictures. If choosing to do your own pictures, any digital camera will work fine. Don’t worry about having your family too matchy matchy. Simply make sure the colors you are wearing blend well together. Also, it’s best to do outside pictures on an overcast day. This prevents having harsh lighting and shadows from the sun. Think outside the box and try to capture pictures that are not posed but rather catch true emotion. These will turn out to be the pictures you treasure the most. Remember to have fun with it and try not to stress if a hair is out of place or a shirt gets a smudge of dirt on it. This is what makes your pictures real and unique.
