Christmas Books For Kids: The Horse Farm Read-and-Play Sticker Book by Lisa Hiley, Illus by Lindsay Graham

Today's entry is the last of our Christmas Books for Kids series!

The Horse Farm Read-and-Play Sticker Book cover

Synopsis: Kids can create their own equine dramas with 4 pages (75 stickers) of reusable vinyl stickers, depicting everything from foals, horses, a barn cat, a vet, a farrier, and more. Fold-out laminated front and back covers reveal full-color illustrated scenes of a pasture, tack room, barnyard and corral.  The text helps to inspire play and teach kids about grooming, tack, and stable safety.

Review: I was really impressed with the stickers- they stick and remove easily, and restick with no problem, and Kiddo can do them herself. I love that they have seperate saddles and bridles, even feed sacks, for total creative play! If your child LOVES horses, they're gonna love playing with these stickers. We found the text very interesting- did you know horses eat 10-20 pounds of hay alone, per day, but (pardon the pun) output 50 lbs of manure? Talk about a digestive system at work!

Lindsey's illustrators are very sweet and the pencil look reminds me of those from Wesley Dennis (who illustrated books for Marguerite Henry). Since those were my favorites as a child, I was thrilled at how much Kiddo loves these! With multiple doctors appointments this week, this book was great to keep Kiddo occupied, so I know it would keep your kids occupied on the long trip to Grandma's house for Christmas! Kiddo gives it a big 10 rave!
