REVIEW: For some reason, this book jsut did NOT attract me, and by the third chapter, Iknew I couldn't make it through the book, so I asked hubby if he wanted to try it-figuring if he's a WWII buff, so he probably would like it. here's his review:

This is a very entertaining story set durning the latter days of WWII as the occupying Nazi's were pulling out of Paris. The main hero players in the story are a Lourve curator named Colette Perrriard, her boyfriend named Bernard Rousseau who is a member of the french communist underground as apposed to the underground that supported Charles Degaulle, Eric Hofstadler and Gabi Mueller from Switzerland but both work for the OSS. On the opposing side we have Hermann Goring, Colonel Walter Heller who is Goring's main henchman, and Schaffner & Kaufman who work directly for Colonel Heller.

Even before the Germans invaded France the government took precautions to hide the Mona Lisa so it would not fall into Nazi hands by hiding it various homes in France. In a last grasp at obtaining it a a barganing chip Goering charges Heller with finding the Mona Lisa. The hero's are out to retreive the painting and bring it back to liberated Paris and the Louvre. There is a suprising rivalry between the Free French and the Communist French that comes to a suprising climax as each side attempts to gain a advantage and power over the other. I personally enjoyed the story nad it was a easy read, if you have the time I am sure you will enjoy this story.
