So sorry guys, but this review was scheduled back for Christmas, and I didn't realize it hadn't gone live, it got overlooked in the Christmas chaos, so I am posting it this week, with an updated review!

Applique Angels and Hearts cover

Synopsis: Applique suddenly became colourful, easy and fun with Madeleine Millington's unique designs, brimming with character. Discover the tactile qualities of wool blanket fabric, using applique and simple hand stitching to produce imaginative and original designs. This title offers lovely Christmas projects, with angels, stars and hearts aplenty! Create a festive mood with an Angel Frieze or a Christmas Stocking. Make your own decorations, including a delightful Advent Calendar with heart pockets in which to hide small gifts.

Review: This is another U.K. craft book, and I was thrilled to be able to review it. If you are new to applique, you will love this book! The author does a great job in taking you step by step through the different applique techniques and processes. Think of it as an applique primer! The projects include a Christmas stocking, Christmas cards, Advent items, a Plum Pudding bag (!), and ornaments.

But the patterns aren't JUST for Christmas! The plum pudding bag above, could easily be converted to a strawberry, or a cupcake bag, for the birthday girl! The angels, birds and stars, can be used during the entire year, just by changing your choice of fabric and decoration! We have an Easter tree, so making a bird for the top of it's tree is simple with Madeline's easy techniques! In fact, her applique patterns are super for using for t-shirt appliques, as appliques on tote bags for Mom's (Mother's Day IS fast approaching!), or for birthday gift items! Check out this card:

Wouldn't it be adorable for a friend's birthday card, who loves the beach or birds? Change the bird color to blue, yellow or green. and there you go! EASY!

I actually made some of her bird ornaments over the holiday's, but forgot to take a picture of them (I know, bad blogger), and they are knee deep in the storage shed, so sorry for no photo! The instructions were easy and Kiddo helped me, and we had a great time making them! This is a great little book, and if you are new to applique, you need it! It would also be a great book for some mother-daughter sewing projects! So go check it out!
