Book Review: Little Miss Bronte (Jane Eyre) and Little Master Carroll (Alice in Wonderland) by Jennifer Adams, Illus.by Alison Oliver

One of my favorite books as a child was Alice in Wonderland. But obviously alot of the imagery and allegory would be lost on a 5 year old, so obviously reading it to her when she's older, would be better. And obviously, the romance and drama of a Bronte novel should wait for the teenage years! But Jennifer Adams has come up with a very unique approach to these classic, well loved books, for the younger set!

Baby Lit is a fashionable way to introduce your toddler to the world of classic literature. With clever, simple text by Jennifer Adams, paired with stylish design and illustrations by Alison Oliver, Little Miss Brontë and Little Master Carroll are a must for every savvy parent's nursery library. The series is aimed at infant to 5 years of age.

Little Miss Bronte teaches counting from one to ten, while introducing the characters from Jane Eyre. While reviewing the set, Kiddo was fascinated with the characters, but more in relationship to British movies she's seen. Her primary thought was counting, and reading the numbers, as she is learning sight words. So in that respect, it is a great little book to hold her attention!

Little Master Carroll on the other hand, teachers colors, while introducing the characters from Alice in Wonderland. Kiddo loved the illustrations, and again, was more focused on reading the words.

I figured that the books would not be of interest too her after the initial reading, but she just looked aghast at me, when I suggested we would give them away! She considers them 'readers' and loves the illustrations! Surprise!

Other titles in the series include Little Master Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet) and Little Miss Austen (Pride & Prejudice), which use the classic works to teach counting.

These are adorable books and ones that will be sure to interest your child with their bright colors, fun illustrations and simple words! Think about putting them in the next basket you make up for a baby shower!
