Book Review: Off Target: 18 bull's-eye exposés by John Noē, Ph.D.

Here's another review from Dad- as the bible scholar in the family, I knew he would find this book interesting! In fact he flew right through the book, as it is a very easy read!

And it ties in nicely, with his earlier book review this week!

Off Target cover

Synopsis"Truly, have we Christians been led astray by our own leaders; dumbed down in our theology by ideas, interpretations, teachings, doctrines of men, and traditions that will not stand up to an honest and sincere test of Scripture; and consequently drawn off target in the practice of our faith?"

This book asks readers to ponder this tough and challenging question: Have we Christians been led astray by our own leaders; dumbed down in our theology by ideas, interpretations, teachings, doctrines of men, and traditions that will not stand up to an honest and sincere test of Scripture; and consequently drawn off target in the practice of our faith?

The author, however, is not down on Christianity-just the opposite. He's down on what we have done to it. Inside its 266 pages John Noē, Ph.D., re-explores what really is authentic Christianity versus today's institutionalized and compromised versions, that we've come to comfortably know and accept. In so doing, readers will discover that beliefs do have consequences. He maintains that this is why our modern-day versions pale in comparison with vibrancy and effectiveness of the Christianity that was preached, practiced, and perceived in the 1st century and turned that hostile world "upside down" (Acts 17:6 KJV).

They also pale in contrast to the faith that brought our forefathers to America to found this country and establish its great institutions-most of which we moderns have given away to the ungodly crowd and without a fight. Bottom line is, we Christians are paying an awful price for our self-inflicted deficiencies.

18 key exposé areas comprise this book's smorgasbord of relevant and significant topics, which have resulted in today's dumbed-down dilemma and substandard versions of the Christians faith, including:

  • Divine Perfection in Two Creations
  • The Kingdom of God
  • The Gospel
  • Hell
  • The 'Last Days'
  • Second Coming / Return
  • Rapture
  • Antichrist
  • The Contemporary Christ
  • Book of Revelation
  • Battle of Armageddon
  • Israel
  • Conflicting End-time Views
  • Doing the Works of Jesus
  • Doing Greater Works than Jesus
  • Origin of Evil
  • Eternal Rewards and Punishment for Believers
  • Your Worldview

Review:  On October 31, 1517 Martin Luther attached 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints Catholic Church in Wittenberg, Germany. This was the beginning of Protestant Reformation. This reformation was begun for the reason that the church at the time was teaching many things, much of which were not in accordance with scriptural guidance from the word of God in our bible.

“Off Target” by Dr. John Noë, one of the most captivating and thought provoking books on Christian America,  is also calling for another reformation. Dr. Noë asks the question, “Have we Christians been led astray, dumbed down and drawn off target in the practice of our faith?”

Dr. Noë uses 18 exposes to nail down just how we as Christians are losing America. He uses scripture from both the Old Testament and the New Testament to demonstrate that God has made it very clear to us the things we need to do, and believe, if we are to show others, and the world, that God loves us “ALL” and wants us “ALL’ to be with Him in paradise.

Dr. Noë has given us the tools, it is now up to us to use these tools and school everyone we come in contact with on the Love of God. His book begins with “Devine Perfection” and concludes with “Bull’s Eye” theology. This book is truly amazing and should become required reading for all Christians, no matter what they're acknowledged faith!

Hurry to see what you are missing out on, by not reading this book and the associated scripture within. It is because of God’s love and grace that we live in such a great country. We as Americans must do all we can to promote this love and grace not only for us in the here and now, but for the future generations to follow.
