If there is one thing Kiddo ADORES, it is her blankets! Seriously, the child has about 30. AND she still plays with them all! She relishes the handmade ones, and always has. I think kids can sense when love is put into a quilt/blanket and given to them! So I am happy to include this great book in our month long birthday special!

SynopsisHere are instructions and patterns for ten crib/cradle and other small quilts, made in Katharine Guerrier's inimitable scrap quilt style. Ideal for using up small quantities from your stash and/or a few fat quarters, these quilts make joyous small projects to create swiftly using quick piecing methods and machine quilting. Katharine's clever use of fabric makes for charming quilts with timeless themes and bright colours. Family treasures in the making!

Review: If you've ever made baby quilts, then you HAVE leftovers, aka scraps! And it never fails, there aren't enough to make a duplicate quilt! But what if you took all those scraps and mixed with other? You might be able to come up with an adorable baby or toddler quilt!

Katharine's book is small, but it provides some excellent patterns to make simple, and quick, pieced quilts for kids! I love the sailboat on the cover, as a great wall hanging, for a baby boy's room, to match a quilt you made! But I have to admit, I am very partial to the simple pastel patch block quilt, for a baby girl:

As long as you make it large enough, it can easily go into toddler hood and preschool with your darling! Not sure what the baby to be is going to be? Then the rail fence pattern is a super way of blending color schemes, so it will fit ANY baby decor!

Katharine does a great job in walking you through the patterns, step by step, so it makes piecing a breeze! There are 9 quilt and 1 wall hanging patterns included in the book. She also has a great section showing you basic quilting techniques, with lots of pictures!, like making triangle/quarter triangle squares, inset diamond in a square, and making a perfect mitered binding! She also includes a list of suppliers, though they are all U.K. But if you're like me, you like to browse the European fabric and quilt shops, to see what may be available over there, that's not here.

This is a great little book, and all of the designs could easily be made with holiday fabric, for an adorable Christmas or Easter lap throw for a child, or for hanging decor in your home! The included instructions made it easy for a beginner to use, and just challenging enough for intermediate quilter's

This is a great quilting book, and one I will probably rely back on more and more for using up by scrap stash for presents and the holidays!
