Pirate Costume Review

Isn't it amazing what our kids pick up from us?

Case in point- Kiddo LOVES Halloween and dressing up for the Ren Faire! So when it comes to getting new costumes, she's always happy to look and try them on!

Thanks to Costume Discounters, we found her a perfect costume to wear not only for one of her Halloween events (we tend to have about 3 every year to attend, and naturally she wants different costumes for them! LOL), and for the Ren Faire this year!

The Girls Deluxe Caribbean Pirate Costume!

The costume Includes a fuschia and black dress lace up bodice and skirt, armwarmers and a silky fuschia bandana. As you can see the skirt is NICE and full, no skimping here! there are different colors of tulle, with a nice underskirt, to keep it from being too itchy on your girl. There is one difference from the picture on the website- the armwarmers are not as long as they are shown on the website (have only 4 grommets for lacing, not 6), on the smaller sizes.

Now Kiddo is wearing a SMALL (Small should fit most size 6, Medium most size 8, Large Fits most size 10). She is on the tall side, so she is wearing size 6 for dresses and pants, in order to cover the legs, but is a true size 5 on the top. As you can see the skirt has plenty of room for her to get taller. The top is loose, but it can be tightened by the laces, so I have no doubt that if we put a nice white blouse underneath it,it will fit just fine come October! Obviously the head scarf is sizeless. The armwarmers (aka sword shields, as Kiddo is calling them), are the issue, as they are about 3 inches too wide! I am going to wait til Fall, but  will probably add another line of thin velcro, on the back, so they can be fit better on her. For the picture above, we just used the laces and tied them around to keep them in place.
As you can see the Captain Feathersword is a perfect color match to the costume, so if you have one still around, take heart, it has more use yet! We also plan on letting Kiddo wear a pirate hat- we have one left over from her Pirate birthday party, that I plan to change from red binding to pink, so it will match the costume. We also have to address the boot issue, as pirates can't be walking barefoot, unless they are in the house! Now if her Hello Kitty black and pink boots still fit, she'll be stylin'! LOL
