Here's some simple ideas we gathered off the web and adjusted to our theme. Really rather inexpensive, if you know where to look for the items!
Simple ribbon bouquet. I got the idea off Pinterest (of course, LOL), via Etsy,
and found a GREAT deal on Ebay for the matching ribbon. It DID take me about 8 out of the 12 yard of ribbon I bought!
Take one Valentine's Day centerpiece at local craft store on CLEARANCE for 50 cents, yes 50 cents, and buy 1 piece of ladybug felt for 1.00. Cut out 7/8 ladybugs and glue onto centerpiece. Done. Total cost for 2 centerpieces: $2.23 (with tax) !
The leftover felt was used to make a bean bag for the ladybug throw game (we had kids throw bags into a hula hoop), instead of pin the tail on the ladybug! I made 2 more out of another piece. Simple!
Also at Valentine's clearance0 2 round ladybug ('lovebug') frames, that you could insert a picture into, for 75 cents. Add pictures I already had and done. Then I took a cardboard box we had, made a 5, and painted like a ladybug. EASY peasy!
Also on sale at Hobby store- one ladybug Easter basket. Add mints from everything a dollar store, that were also Valentine's and marked down half price, and you have a simple, cute and helpful centerpiece!
The red and black tins were also on sale at the craft store, as part of their pre-summer sale! Half off, yeah! Add red and black twizzlers, and tada, simple munchies and decoration! Got the idea from a great ladybug party that Mel threw for her daughter over at The Larson Lingo!
Red half price pails with candy and sprinkle coated pretzel sticks, make for a easy edible centerpiece! I couldn't find black melts (why they were sold out for 4 weeks in February/march) is beyond my comprehension), so I went with red, and used sprinkles that were on clearance as they were Christmas colors- red, green and white. BUT the green was so dark, it looked black. So it matched with no problem! Another idea from Mel's party!
Ah the swings. Sorry I don't have a better photo!
Bought 6 rolls of discount red, black and white ribbon from the craft store and tied on all the swings on the swingset. It looked adorable when the kids were swinging, and added an extra touch of 'party' to an unexpected area! Thanks to Style Me Pretty for the idea!
The only other thing I didn't have a picture of, was the garlands of black and red hearts, I also got from the craft store on their Valentine's clearance for 25 cents each. Looped together, they were an added decoration on the house wall in the carport area.
I hope all these decorations might give you some ideas and tips on using clearance items, and items you might have around your house!
