I saw a great idea on Pinterest (where else?, and HOW did we live without it a mere 8 months ago????), about putting emotions and animals on dice (thanks Sweeter than Sweets!), and using them to help kids act out emotions. I thought hmm, add some actions (verbs) and you've got all the makings of a story line!
You could do this before your kids come home from school and make a great Friday night game out of it. let them roll the dice and come up with an idea based on the results. Then string them all together into a story. Collect the stories and save them toembarass laugh with your kids about them years from now!
