Book Review: God Helps Me Bible by Juliet David, Illus by Claire Caddy

Looking for a great gift for a young child you love?

I have the perfect one!

God Helps Me Bible cover

SynopsisSpecially designed for very young children, the God Helps Me Bible features a spiral binding that allows the book to lay flat on a table, floor, or lap, which leaves little hands free to turn the pages and point out fun details in Clare Caddy's darling illustrations.

The twenty-five favorite Bible stories use words and concepts tailored for the youngest reader, so each story clearly emphasizes how God loves and helps His world and people.

Review: This bible is aimed at young children, I would say between 2 and 6, primarily. It also would serve an early reader for the 5-7 set. The stories are simple, yet wonderfully illustrated, to keep a young child's attention. We've been using it as a church take along. We've been lucky in that what ever reading we had during the service, it was also in this book! It helped Kiddo having the pictures to look at, while the readings were taking place. It also helped afterwards to go over the lessons, in the simple language of this book, to make sure she understood and retained them. We highly recommend it for gifts, sunday school classes and for bible reading with your young children!

About the AuthorJuliet David has written many children's stories and Bible activity books. Her other interests include painting, music, and traveling to Israel and other Bible lands. This experienced author lives in London with her family.

About the Illustrator Clare Caddy was born in Kent in the 70’s, but having a father in the navy meant she didn’t stay there for long, moving all around England and Scotland throughout her childhood. She moved a total of 14 times, making her an expert in packing, but she got to meet lots of friends along the way.

She also uses soft pastels to create a softer and slightly more ‘cute’ look, which works well for children’s books. People, especially children are her favourite subjects to draw. Once she has finished an artwork she scans it into Photoshop and has a play around with colours and layout if needed – just to make it perfect! She has now settled in Salisbury where she lives with her husband and her two little bundles of joy (most of the time!) She works in her converted garage in the garden and listens to music and the radio whilst creating her masterpieces.

  1. This seems like a nice book for younger children for them to learn more about God.
