This post was supposed to go live last week, during Children's Book Week, but another instance where I and the Blogger scheduler didn't get along, and it didn't post on the right day! ARGHHHH. Ever have one of those weeks? Anyhoo...onward!
A couple of month's ago, we reviewed Sheri's The Little Rose, and we were quite happy to review this, her latest book! Also back with her is illustrator Mary Erikson Washam!
Synopsis: Set in a Victorian garden, The Little Gnome is a heartwarming tale about an adorable garden gnome experiencing the wonder of the four seasons for the first time.
Review: Kiddo loved this book from page one! She loves her birds and her flowers and plants, so she agreed with the Little Gnome, that his garden was perfect indeed! She had alot of fun describing the events in his garden that also happen in ours. Thus, it was so going reading the book, as each turn of the page brought more discussions! It was quite funny when she asked me, "but Momma, who gave him his jacket and scarf, when it got cold?" Ah the logical mind (my answer FYI was the missing garden caretaker- she was satisfied with that, as there are no humans in the story!).
This is a book to be read all year round (the cover fools you!), and it truly teaches kids to appreciate the beauty of nature around them, in all the seasons, and to look for positives, and not complain. The illustrations will keep your child very entertained!
