Product Review: Tombow Glue

If you're like us, when you have a 5 year old in the house, you're gonna go through ALOT of glue. Or glue strips. Or glue applicators. Or tape. or all of the above! So when you get the chance to review a new product that is perfect for everybody in the house to use, you generally yell "PLEASE!"

tombow glue
Thanks to Tombow, I was able to review their new applicator, and refill pack!
(If their name sounds familiar to you older folks in the bunch, it's because you probably used their correction tape, when WAAYYY back when you used a TYPREWRITER-gasp! LOL). The new glue has a number of uses, but is especially perfect for crafting and scrapbooking! Especially when pesky crafty 5 yr olds wander off with the glue bottles!

The Tombow Glue Dispenser is easy to use, and easy to refill! In fact, the Tombow adhesive glue refills fit any of  the Tombow Mono Adhesive ergonomic glue dispensers,  like the TOM62203 and the TOM62201 dispensers. The adhesive is acid-free and photo-safe (important when scrapbooking and using it with photos!) I really liked how the applicator precisely applied a sheer film of adhesive quickly and cleanly with no mess, exactly where I wanted it to go. I found that it dried very quickly and made a really STRONG bond, something you don't always get with roll adhesives!

Kiddo and I needed a great Mother's Day activity, so it was really great timing to get the Tombow in the mail! We borrowed the idea of paper flowers from A Thrifty Mom, to make some flowers for the Grandmoms!

papers for flowers

We started with some scrapbook paper, cut it into circles- 2 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches wide (not shown below). I didn't have any double sided paper, but it definitely looks better with it.

Then we gathered some buttons and felt flowers, that matched the papers selected.

I folded the petals in and then Kiddo used the Tombow to glue the top folds down. As you can see, you really need to be precise and match up your folds to get them even! Kiddo decided where the flower petal should go, and used the Tombow to put them in place. I was really impressed with how well they stuck to the bottom base (5 inch circle). Kiddo then decided which button and felt flower to use for each flower. While the felt flowers were hard to place as the adhesive sorta pulled off some fibers, once they stuck in place, they were fine! As were the buttons.

I forgot to take a final picture (vacation brain attacked!). But we took some glitter pens and colored inside the white petals above in rose, yellow and orange, alternating the colors. It came the flowers a more finished look and livened them up some (glitter always can do that!). Again, the double sided paper would have saved us this step, but hey what 5 year old doesn't love to color, right?

Overall I was VERY pleased at how well the Tombow glue adhesive worked and will gladly buy it again, as the refills are very inexpensive, and it meets all the crafting needs we have! Check it out for yourself and you'll agree too!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.=
